    Fiscal Sponsors for Narrative Features.

I recommend From The Heart Productions, Carole Dean is a great woman and very helpful to indies looking to get fiscal sponsorship. When I was in high school she gave me fiscal sponsorship (you only need one, no point in having multiple) for my short documentary "Why Teach?". She provided her...

    editing Credits - help!

Lol that's a great question... if that's the main character... I'd say Yes, but I think that's really up to you on a personal level? Like I don't think there is a standard. Just whatever it says in their contract / SAG Agreement is the only legal binding to credits.

Assistant director or 2nd Unit director

Silence, Audio Speed, Camera Speed, and schedule is all AD. Slate (Clapper) & Camera Note Taking is 2nd AC. Sound Notes are Sound Mixer. -------------------------- Sounds like you were a mix of those three positions... which 2nd AC and AD are something I have mixed together on small...

    Hello!

I understand you're marketing your site by coming here, getting premiere, and putting your banner. Then posting in threads and whatnot. Marketing on forums is pretty straight forwards. But if you don't mind sharing, what film industry experience do you have? Have you worked on things? How'd...

Assistant director or 2nd Unit director

I go to film school. Tons of like-minded friends practicing their crafts. I produce my own stuff, using paychecks for budgets (primarily crafty, although I do hire my sound team, because sound isn't something I like taking a risk with). Although I will be working on a short soon that is funded...

Assistant director or 2nd Unit director

I feel for indie stuff a 2nd unit is a bit silly in all regards, so agreed there. That kind of crew is only needed on larger crews with larger projects and higher budgets. However, I'm no AD. Scheduling is horrible for me. So I have someone else do it, however, that someone else is also my 2nd...

Bought camera and found out it has no audio jack, what should i do?

Nope.... but I would recommend the stuff on Alcove Audio's audio buying guide Under Audio Recorders, I bought the first one, the DR-100mkII, very nice budget recorder.

Assistant director or 2nd Unit director

You don't think an AD is needed? Even no budget shorts a lot of times have ADs. It's super helpful when you have someone making sure that a schedule is being followed and that you're not spending too much time on one thing. If you have a friend willing to help, hand them your schedule and tell...

Bought camera and found out it has no audio jack, what should i do?

I'm against connecting to camera for anything other than a scratch track. Two System Sound is almost always a better quality. However, if you really need to record it all to camera, you could get a Zoom or Tascam recorder, connect the mic to that and then use a cable to connect the recorder...

Assistant director or 2nd Unit director

Ummmm I've never done 2nd Unit size crews.... (Other than 2nd Unit being referred to the 2nd AD and his extras) However, an Assistant Director is NOT a Director. Think of it this way, the Director directs the Talent. Assistant Director (AD) directs the Crew. An AD makes sure that set runs...

Purchasing a script VS. Writing your own.

O-o I feel like you don't know many no-name screenwriters. The dude had four scripts, all were under 15 pages. If he sold each one at 200$ then he made 800$ from less than 60 pages. A no-name writer just made 800$ on four SHORTS. That's an accomplishment. Chances are slim one of those four...

    archived-videos Mirrors [PROMO]

Ayyyy! I worked on this project last year and have been readily waiting for the day this promo released! Not sure the status of my NDA on it, but I'm confident I can say I worked on it, and it was an awesome experience. Mirrors [Promo] is created for sending to investors to fund the entire...

    Paaramount sued by PA's.

I kind of feel like these guys knew exactly the situation they were in, and didn't quit for the pure reason of later trying to make a money grab out of the situation. And let's be realistic, Paramount won't spend a day in court over this. Settlement incoming.

    Lighting Kit: Opiniouns / Suggestions

He lives in Atlanta. He has access to rental houses. And it doesn't cost 5,000$ to rent lights. He asked if I knew prices, which I don't because I don't rent. ------- Since when is renting not a reasonable solution? ------- Also what does your comment give to the discussion? Other than...

    Lighting Kit: Opiniouns / Suggestions

No idea, varies per rental house. Region you live has a big factor... You live in Atlanta... so I assume there are quite a few options and the prices will most likely be decent... I work in a soundstage (with enough lighting gear to rival a rental house) so I don't rent... but I've had friends...

    New Fillmmaker: Equipment to get

That completely changes my post haha... Yea don't try to get any PA jobs yet. Wait until after you graduate. Although perhaps during the summer you could see about a Production Office receptionist internship or something along those lines. Also I have to put this out there... since you said...

    Lighting Kit: Opiniouns / Suggestions

. . . Have you seen the prices for actual lights? Not LED, like Mole Richardson, SunRay, Arri, or Kino Flo kits? Then have you seen the prices to get them fixed if they break? [Decided to include a link if you'd like to see the price of such kits...

    New Fillmmaker: Equipment to get

That's garbage and the result will be garbage :D ---------- Seriously, you live in ATLANTA? You know you live in the best place to be into this industry, right? There are TONS of productions going on right now in your city. Don't buy gear (especially cheap gear), go look to get on some...
