    editing Green Screen keying help

DirectorX: Recieved your PM and replied Coot: Yep, Primatte it is. It isn't the straight key but I didn't spend long tweaking. As you can see there are a few places where the blue shows through. A little on the dashboard and a very little on the coat. It could certainly use more tweaking...

    New DVX100...

The HVX will be a high definition camera that will record DVCpro50 and DVCproHD (720p, 1080i, 1080p). Film look is, of course, quite subjective. :) Any camera can give you a good filmish look if you know what you are doing. Basically the HVX is the DVX on steroids. It includes the same image...

Here's a very quick test in AE using Primatte:

Adobe Premiere V1.5 Pro Vs. Window Movie Maker

Premiere Pro is MUCH more powerful than WMM. If WMM works for you though don't bother spending the extra money. You have lots more control and a greater variety of tools.

Harry Potter Parody: Avoiding Slander, Libel, and Copyright Infringement Lawsuits

For the record, I'm not a lawyer either but a parody is usually 100% legal. Heck, it's done all the time with hollywood stars and politicians without suit. So long as you don't try to pass your work off as "something Mr. Blah really did" you should be perfectly fine. Libel and Slander only...

Need Investors for low budget film

Color grading isn't exceptionally hard. Broadly speaking, color grading is any change in colors to the original footage that you do for artistic reasons. Color correction is used to refer to fixed poorly exposed or off color images. The term "color grading" comes from the film process of...

    I almost crapped myself...

Yep. Not a whole lot of significant changes but definitely cool. It's basically just a tweaked 100A (as the 100A was of the 100). Definitely lovin' the black look though :D

Question about Magic Bullet Editors Program

It depends. If you need some good looks and have time to wait rendering (MB takes a long time to render due to it's high bit depth processing - makes for good quality but SLOW render times) it's possibly a good choice. I recieved a copy free with my DVX and don't really like it; just doesn't...

Suggestions for managing a bloody shoot?

Honestly, I don't know! I just know that my previous experiences with corn syrup have been a REAL pain. I know you can buy theatrical blood of various sorts if I'm not mistaken. I haven't needed blood for a while now so I honestly don't know what I'll use when I need to do it again.

    audio only on one speaker?

You should be able to duplicate the left channel and play it through the right as well. EDIT: Good ol' Zen beat me to the punch :D

Suggestions for managing a bloody shoot?

Try to avoid corn syrup if possible. It can look good but it isn't worth the pain IMO. Nothing worse than trying to get that stuff off your skin - especially if it's all over.

    Shooting scriptless

Just to myself really. I'm certainly not getting down on you for shooting scriptless! It happens! I find that I'm most creative when I have everything planned out so I know exactly what I need and why. Then on set I can modify things if I something cool comes up. It's just the way my brain...

    Shooting scriptless

I can't shoot without a script. So much of how I direct and shoot a scene is tied to the story and its visuals. It's impossible to do anything really creative without a script.

Whoa! Large file there at over 300mb! Any chance you could compress it smaller? I'd love to have a look but haven't the time for such a large file. :)

    IndieTalk screenwriting contest?

That could be interesting Boz Uriel. Sounds sort of fun and doesn't put all the pressure on one person to deliver the goods so to speak.

    IndieTalk screenwriting contest?

Regarding SFX: I think the person(s) shooting the film should probably dictate this. I'm not sure what Will has at his disposal, but some people may have lots of SFX talent and resources that they could draw on. I definitely think focusing on story is a good idea though and should be the...

    editing Best MiniDVs

Quite honestly, I've always used the Panasonic tapes you can get at most any store and haven't had a single drop out. Works well enough for me and I can easily get more if I need to which can matter if you're in a tight spot and want to keep the camera on one tape type. :)

    Panasonic Camera Query

Depends really. Native 16:9 is nice for going to film but pretty much unnecessary given most other circumstances. The only time you might also want it is if you were going to high definition for some reason. In cam there are two options 1) squeeze mode (electronically stretches the central...
