No difference really. Figure out each scene in your mind as you'd like to see it edited. Combine the shots that are identical and make a shot list. Order the shots into a make-sense shooting order. You could still line the script, each shot would just begin and end on an action line instead...

The other thing I've seen done, is smoke the room up. It adds some dramatic flair, and if there is enough distance between the subject and the window, the added smoke will cut down on both the brightness of the outside and the quality of the reflections. CraigL

HitFilm also has quite extensive grading capabilities, and a pretty decent price for the standard version. Also, quite a few VFX possibilities and some tracking thrown in. They are also GPU driven though, but you can give the demo a try and see. CraigL

Can you change the blending mode to Add? Sometimes, that helps with luma key effects. CraigL
