Magic Lantern vs. the V2 Firmware upgrade for the 7D

I've never downloaded Magic Lantern and don't know what the benefits are to its use. I've read that an alpha version for the Canon 7D recently came out and is working well. I've also read that the V2 firmware update for the 7D is now available too. Does anyone have an opinion as to the benefits...

    editing Editing with iMovie

Depending on what you're trying to accomplish, you can use iMovie to edit without too many issues. I would suggest having a very good idea of what you want for a final product though. If you do, there are little tricks you can use that will allow you to get more out of the software than you...

Could this actor pass for a police Sergeant?

You need to decide if you want to act in a main role in your movie, of if you want to direct it. It seems to me that you're looking for all the glory of doing it all and your painting yourself into a corner to do it. You may have been able to get away with acting and directing in a 5 minute...

Could this actor pass for a police Sergeant?

^^ I want to hear the answer tho this... If it is you, I would suggest not playing the part yourself, not if it's a main role. If you do want to play it, get someone else to direct.

Disney Buys Lucas Films? Including Star Wars?

Michael Fassbender has the looks and edge, but Nathan Fillion has the charm and sense of humor... Either of them would be my choice. But I doubt a new Indy will happen anytime soon. I read that Disney didn't actually put a value on the Indy franchise due to Paramount still holding a stake...

Question about which gun props are the right choice.

This is why you shoot test footage of stuff you're unsure of. Shoot a "short film" of just your shoot out/fire fight and see if you can make it work.

Question about which gun props are the right choice.

I don't know why you wouldn't just do the blowback, muzzle-flash, casings, etc... in post. It is SO easy and cheaper than buying special weapons. I've seen professional films and television shows that use plastic/rubber guns and make it all look totally real in post... This BTS video of Once...

    sound I hate sound

I haven't had NEARLY as much experience as Alcove, but I do all the sound recreation and syncing (foley) on all my shorts. It can be a tedious job at best, and a nightmare when it's just not working out. If I get to the point where I'm having issues. I simply save what I have, move to another...

editing Question about breaking the editing rules appropriately.

And actually, there's not a continuity error in that particular shot. If you look closely, the apple (not a doughnut) he's holding in his hand gets hit by a bullet and basically explodes, therefore it's not shown in the next shot...

Feedback on my short film script

^This^ Ever since Pulp Fiction, leaving your MacGuffin a mystery has been the "cool" thing to do. I'm even guilty of it. I have a similarly structured short film that I made a while ago. Not a very good short, but for I was trying to accomplish, it worked...

What stock footage do you want?

I wonder if we could have some type of database on here that could house stock footage and sounds clips for members to use. Have it be something that everyone can contribute to...
