    GH2 lens choices...

That's a small budget, I'd go with a 14-42 kit lens (it's slow) then maybe some Vintage glass to fill up the roster. a 50mm f1.4, a 100mm 2.8 and maybe a 25mm 2.8. I don't know of any decent zooms for 500 bucks except for the 45mm-200mm m43 but that lens is diffficult indoors.

lighting How was Deep Focus achieved in film Noir and low light situations?

I'm guessing, but I agree with Paul. They'd blast a lot of light but control it strategically. I'm thinking they didn't shoot wide open either, since that would've shallowed up the focus.

    The death of DSLR?

The sensor is just a little smaller than m43 and accompanying crop factor isn't much worse. You'll still get your shallow DOF if you want, and you can get wide enough. Most m43'ers (GH2, etc) are happy. This camera has gnarly specs. Wish I had one. If I had it, I'd probably rarely shoot RAW...

    cinematography SONY PMW-EX1R V.S. Sony HXR-NX5U

EX1 is long in the tooth and even it's day wasn't a 6k camera. But it's still really good. A clean, sharp image. It's got a bigger sensor than the NX so I'd go with it were it my call. Can you use both? See if you can match the footage. Actually that's a good thing to do anyway, test both cams.

    Blackmagic Deisgn 2.5K Raw S16 -- for 2,999.99 - July

Gamechanger. Sensor is between 16mm and 35mm. Big enough! 13 stops of latitude! Gulp.

cinematography FPS for an action scene?

Why do you shoot at one rate and edit in another? You're usually better off keeping it consistent.

sound Any good reason NOT to use a lav mic?

A true indie would never use real gaffer's tape. Duct or masking only. Gaffer's tape is for fascists.

sound Any good reason NOT to use a lav mic?

A decent boom mic sounds better than even the best lav...all else being equal. Note: A Zoom h4n duct taped to a boompole isn't considered a "Decent boom mic".

sales-options Best way to sell a script?

Yep. Typical feature costs more than 100 million to make, so to manage risk, studios love to stick to an established brand/pre existing material. Risk aversion.

sales-options Best way to sell a script?

Having a fan base has nothing to do with a track record. They are different things Screenwriters don't have fanbases except among their peers.

archived-videos Bad Signs - Spec Trailer

Looks like there's some potential for humor there and a lot of the performers look like they have some comic chops. Love the premise. I'd like to suggest you go with a straight V/o, perhaps you don't know, but literally every student film ever made in the Western Hemisphere begins with a guy...

sales-options Best way to sell a script?

I don't think there's any such thing as a screenwriter with a "Fanbase". Even A list screenwriters are nobodies to the public, and schmucks with Underwoods to the tastemakers. :ike you say, good writing is good writing is good writing. Period. The trick is for an outsider to get the script in...

    GH2 doomsday hoax

It was recently reported that mad Russian hacker Vitaliy Kiselev had been "Purchased" by Panasonic as a developer. The glorious days of turbocharging the beloved GH2 via Vitaliy's amazing hacks were apparently over. He'd left the Jedi Knights to join the Dark Side. Except the whole thing was an...
