The Tascam is kind of the line of demarcation for sound. It's hard to go up incrementally from the DR100. The DR100 will give you decent sound, but to get to the next level, you've gotta break open the piggy bank. I tried one of those $100 preamps. Pure garbage.

Be careful is my advice. People will make you seriously dead if you fly too close to the flame. We're it me, I wouldn't show names and faces of the filmmakers.

I edit in Vegas, transcode in TMPGenc and build the DVD in DVD Architect. Gives good results and is affordable.
