I personally use, FCP7, Motion 4, and solidworks. The studio I run, uses those, all of CS5, and 3DS max. It's not what you have but how you use it.

FCP 7 is the best. FCx is crap. They took out multi-cam and other stuff. Motion 5 is okay, but FCP 7 is used widely. TNN uses it, I would know. FCx can't open projects from FCP 7. But FCP 7 can open projects, from FCP 3ish-FCP 7. FCP 7 also has an ability to set-up workflows between solidworks...

Puppeteer with orange sticks with green markers every three inches. Make sure to get a clean plate. Then roto in post. The orange is so you can see better in post, the green markers are if you happen to want to motion track. If you roto, as long as you're behind the doll you can be in the shot.
