    Super-awesome! Nice one :D

A script of mine got proofread and here's what the reader said.

Saw? EDIT: Although Saw might not be a great example, as the Jigsaw Killer sets the rules for the victim's escape. It would be cool to make a movie where the victim could define the rules, like a dark version of Home Alone. Or maybe a situation where there are no rules, and it leads to a true...

In need of a good movie :)

I concur with JoshL, except maybe i'd put Wild at Heart and Lost Highway (which I love) before Eraserhead. Inland Empire is definitely the most impenetrable, but great film. Straight Story and Elephant Man were only part-Lynch if I remember correctly, and slightly more accessible. Twin Peaks is...

In need of a good movie :)

Oh come on Alcove, man, one step at a time! Mulholland Drive is surely a better starting point ;)

what to do when it comes down to scripts?

If you're primarily interested in filming, and you're at the zero budget level, just write your own. If you're filming it yourself and you have a small crew of people who want to work on it, just get a script together and try it. You don't need to stick to it 100% and you'll learn a lot about...

    Promoting with Facebook etc.

Good shout, man, I love hearing about other people's new projects and ideas. I've dropped you all some Facebook Love (I'm still not active on Twitter yet... one day!). Here's my FB page: http://www.facebook.com/cerebralvisions

character Question on how to write this type of character.

I'd say that the majority of smokers must have, at some point in their lives, believed that smoking was cool, or they'd never have started. I know I believed it, and a certain secret part of my brain still does. As for sexiness... well, I'm no sociologist, but I think there's a cultural taboo...

    Who is your favorite artist.

There's a Joan Miró exhibition on at the Tate at the moment which I highly recommend to anyone in the vicinity. I'm horrified and at the same time fascinated by the Spanish Civil War and the great artwork that came out of that short period and the years of Franco's subsequent dictatorship. I...

How do actors do so well on their directorial debuts when...?

I'm not 100% sure, but I suppose the key thing would be story telling. Can you get a good narrative across to your audience. You can have the best camera-work in the world but if the story is weak or, worse still, incomprehensible, you'll have a lot of trouble getting into festivals. You...

How do actors do so well on their directorial debuts when...?

Ah. That I do not know. lol  But you should totally post something on IndieTalk for the aforementioned reasons! Some people on the forum will know if you're ready to start making festival-worthy shorts. I'm guessing that it'll be easier to tell by checking out your work than by guessing...

    archived-videos Assassin - short film

Woohoo, thanks Murdock! I was expecting a little more abuse :P I think we used a single desk lamp as a key and no fill whatsoever. The single candle was useless as a light source, but we were shooting on a little old JVC SD camcorder. A better camera might have handled it better. I like the...

How do actors do so well on their directorial debuts when...?

Haha nice one! But since you ask: http://www.indietalk.com/showthread.php?t=29751 Even Harmonica44 has given me feedback, an honour well worth the submission :D

Submittable as in, submitted on IndieTalk? I've got stuff up there now looking dark with not brilliant audio receiving excellent feedback which I can use to improve my skills ;)

How do actors do so well on their directorial debuts when...?

Depends on your circumstances and, as pointed out above, budget. If you have $75000 to spend on a feature, for instance, the advice on how to record sound and any camera recommendations are going to take that budget into consideration. i.e. hire sound recordists, buy a prosumer camera, travel...

Question about zooming in while shooting.

Zooms are awesome, albeit tasteless, crude and overused. My next film is an over-the-top spoof kung fu heart-felt comedy action disaster romp and is going to feature two dolly zooms and no less than three crash zooms (used to great effect on the quiz show University Challenge...

    archived-videos AGAINST TIME (Short Film)

That was pretty damn good, man. It has a solid story, decent acting and the driving sequence was really intense. Minor gripes would be the audio for dialogue was sometimes a little low and was drowned out by sound effects and music. But all in all it's a very watchable action film, excellent work :D

How much power does a producer have over a director?

This. Harmonica, if you do this, you'll probably get more constructive feedback than anyone has ever received in IndieTalk history.

The Best Books To Read About Filmmaking

I'm reading through that at the moment, great book, really easy to get into. Gives just enough technical info to have an appreciation for recording and editing without bogging you down too much with physics and logarithms. I'm also reading the Sonnenschein one Alcove recommends, it is a...

Alcove, it has been said before, but I'll say it again... You are one hip, hip, hip dude. Thank you very much!
