    Remakes, Yea or Nay?

I think i am playing the neutral here, i am going to have to stick with the "If it is done well then i have no problems... strain of thinking" and so i guess the three reason stated are that of purley logical thinking rather than a judgment based on sides... However i have to say i do get very...

    Remakes, Yea or Nay?

There are 3 reasons i can think of to make a remake: 1. For fun : Directors sometimes make remakes because they were a fan of the original and so they themselves try to have a crack at their all time favorite films... i.e Peter Jackson. 2. For Money : this one gets a bit iffy, but basically...

    Nudity?

That brings up another point, what is everyones view of porn... is it an artform in itself? or just cheap trash.... i havnt watched too much myelf (i can just hear the "yeah right" from the rest) but it is a part of the film industry and funnily enough they do have directors.... -Walt

    Remakes, Yea or Nay?

You make some good points, a remake should not ride off the success of its orignial couterpart but rather off its own merits.. for instance When the film "10 things i hate about you" took the words of William Shakespear you didnt see them calling it "The taming of the shrew", they changed the...

    Remakes, Yea or Nay?

you know what... i think i am going to go make a remake now.... i have been inspired and i think a remake is in order, lol :D seriously though, a lot of people do get into the habit of forgetting the reason we have film in the first place and thus view it in the wrong light... (mind the pun). I...

What sort of filmmaker are you???

I would have to agree with you there.... story is a big thing in film, without it you just have somebodys cool effects reel and thats it, but i wonder if the basis of a visual ( say for instance someone has a cool idea where a shot gets the camera to fall from the sky right into the depths of a...

    Remakes, Yea or Nay?

the funny thing is that a lot of the times people have no idea that a movie is a remake of another older film, this is mainly due to clever marketing and a forced "lack of recognition" towards the older version and so nobody has any problems! So whats the harm, if you found the movie...

What sort of filmmaker are you???

I was just puzzling this over with a mate recently.... There are 2 main types of filmmakers i know, there are some who think visualy, this meaning that they have an idea for a great shot or a great effect and work a story round this, and then there are some that do it the opposite way thinking...
