    Talent, etc.

So I'm a musician. I guess. Basically I'm interested in and dabble in pretty much every area of the arts - but music is the thing I've had the most experience with and the thing in which I know the most about. If each area of the arts is a different language - than music is the one I'm most...

    Indians

Ravenous - one of my favorite soundtracks ever. Right next to Doctor Zhivago. HAH.

    Who's your dream team?

Directed by David Lynch and Staring Woody Allen - That's pure brilliance there. :D

Dead Man - I second that.. but you're already watching it, so..

    Indians

Unfortunately the only thing that comes to mind is "Thunderheart". It's a western but for "scary-shit" I seem to remember "The Missing" being pretty intense. You might want to read up more than anything though.. from my limited knowledge, in that particular area, nothing is as...

    Truth about Independent Filmmaking

Just copied this to the hard-drive for future reference in stretches of empathylessness. Thanks!

Brave. Tell Me This Doesn't Look Cool.

The thing about pixar.. is that we are basically watching Spielberg in his prime unfolding. It's hard to realize in the present tense but.. (boy would I love to have been 16 at the Jaws premiere.)

    Emma Watson

Okay reading articles about her feeling ... I don't know - "Human"? makes her significantly more sexy.. but.. still.. Why am I replying to this thread a third time? >.<

    cinematography Favorite movie for Cinimatography?

The first thing I ever saw that made me aware of what cinematography even was: Road to Perdition. But as a matter of personal taste: "And the winner is.... AMELIE. Case closed." Here here! Honestly I'd give A Very Long Engagement the upperhand but you can add everything Jean Pierre Juenet has...

sound How I made money from music

Great post. Very good advice, I think. As people have pointed out, though - the world is a very different place now than just a little while ago. It's also worth noting that you (apparently) got started and rolling before you had to deal with the practical concerns of staying alive. And you...

A script of mine got proofread and here's what the reader said.

And to keep it on point - there's an example of sticking to the logic of the film world and ignoring real logic. Horror movies don't require the serial killer to be reasonable. In fact the psycho killer sub-genre almost depends on a lack of reason. Action movies - guns don't run out of ammo...

A script of mine got proofread and here's what the reader said.

    - I actually thought of Saw as I wrote that. :P Which I loved.. mostly because James Wan and Leigh Wannel (?) were given half a chance and they made it work. Murdock - "Part of a good story are surprising turns" - like when the plumber is cleaning the housewife's pipes.. and then all of a...

what to do when it comes down to scripts?

While the above seem like good points - there's a lot to be said for having a collaborator. Having someone else involved is a good motivator for finishing a project. And it's never a bad idea to network. I think I'd suggest doing both. Work out your own script - and seek any kind of local...

What are some good ideas for a space opera.

I think I've only ever heard the term used to describe star wars.. I MAY have heard it used to describe the Video game "Mass Effect". For some reason familial relations (opera) and an interplanetary setting (space) seem integral. If I were going to write something I'd start there. Good Luck!

A script of mine got proofread and here's what the reader said.

I think some other's put it pretty well - as long as it adheres to the logic of the film world. "If the killer of ghost or whatever said "I'll give you 5 minutes to think through where you wanna run" and THEN the character still runs upstairs, then that's just bad scripting" that actually...
