    What are you working on?

Welcome back :) Just finishing up our little church film. In post production now and hope to wrap up by the end of the month. Personally, I have made a goal to make a short film every month this year. More films will hopefully equate to faster skill building. I am not a writer by any stretch...

How long should I commit to someone's feature film before moving on?

Don't worry about being criticized. It's going to happen. Take the good with the bad... (I know you've heard this before). My last project, outside of those who know me or know someone attached to the projects, I don't think anyone here would have enjoyed. It was a mess technically and...

How long should I commit to someone's feature film before moving on?

This is the biggest lesson you need to learn. Having to adapt to changing situations is part of the creative process. You will never have everything 100% perfect from day one. The small film I am working on..a week before we started shooting at our primary spot, we got a call that we couldn't...

    Such a relief...

Yeah, I must say I agree. I have a couple other sites bookmarked but I don't visit them nearly as much as here. Nor have I learned as much from them as I do from just reading post by you guys. Thanks for keeping everything, mostly, civil around here :)

Test Yourself! Which is Which: BMPCC or GH3?

Again, Neither was from a BMPCC. As stated on another forum by the original poster, he used a GH3 for both. He underexposed the one with the window showing and then used noise reduction when boosting the shadows. There where some other tweaks also but I believe that was the main point.

Test Yourself! Which is Which: BMPCC or GH3?

They were both GH3. No BMPCC was used.

    editing Efficient Editing

To explain why I master by scene. The first film we worked on..we ran into issues with time. THe guy doing the editing didn't render anything out until the last day..and then had issues...we ended up having to show the film from the time line. His render was running 20+ hours. As I complete...

    editing Efficient Editing

For me, what I have done and continue to do, is create sequences based off of scenes. So like your second option. Make sure to leave a little extra footage on the front and tail of each scene, for transitions and/or L and J cuts. Then I render out a master copy of each sequence and place these...

    editing Hit Film ultimate

I use Hitfilm 2. You can download a free trial. It has very basic exporting abilities. H.264 mp4 and uncompressed AVI, perhaps DV/HDV I forget. It's a very nice and easy to use VFX compositing program. It has a lot of prebuilt effects. My only issue has been the lack of export options. I...

archived-videos Whatever the Cost - Teaser Trailer

Early trailer for our next film church project. Still in the middle of shooting. Have about 5 scenes to go. Then once I have picture lock, will turn it over to our sound guys and I will lock down the color grading I want. So learning from our last film, The Beginning, I wanted to have more...

Why do directors/producers make changes to their scripts if actor's leave?

H44, I haven't gotten a chance to watch your video yet...but I wanted to take a moment to congratulate you for releasing it. The 1st movie one I did, a Christmas movie, I struggled for days debating on releasing the trailer..then the movie. Was it a great movie? No. But at least I put it out...

archived-videos Silent Film Short - Damsel in Distress

Thanks for the input! Yeah we worked on a very compressed schedule... He came to me Saturday evening and asked for help, Sunday we shot and they had no idea for a story so we had to build the story line while shooting. But looking back, I never even thought about closeups. I really need to...

This is what we came up with. Took about 2 hours to film. Post was about 5...

editing Visual Effects artist needed for single clip in short film.

Morning Michael, I have some experience utilizing After Effects to paint things out. I am not not a skilled vfx artist but if you can't find one, I can take a stab at it for you. Good luck, Justin

Windows 8 64bit or Windows 8 Professional 64bit? Which to get?

The selling point for me was the lack of remote desktop support. The core version does not allow you to remote into it. This may not be a need for you. Otherwise, everything else worked great on core. I mostly use it for ingesting footage via Adobe Prelude and then having it transcode and copy...

    archived-videos The Beginning Trailer

Well we are done with this project. Time to reflect on what went well, and what didn't. Be wary, the opening credits are way too long for my liking, so I failed that first test there :). Again, it's because it was a production for church, so everyone liked to see themselves in the opening...
