editing RAW files are multiplying on import?

Yes, raw is saved as individual frames on the BMPCC. Not sure why Premiere doesn't notice this and only bring it in as one clip but yes, it basically creates multiple video files when you bring in the folder. Glad you got it sorted out.

Try dragging the first image from the folder into Premiere.

editing Question about hiring a colorist.

I only used the Action Essentials because of the earlier example, but it never clicked in my head that post houses create their own effects. Duh! I assumed Action Essentials wasn't used in post houses but for some reason never got all the way to "Hello McFly! They create/use their own assets as...

editing Question about hiring a colorist.

Thanks for that input. Sorry if I am a bit slow getting this. So they work on ungraded footage. Got it. This footage is viewed, not altered, via a lut. Got it. So they want to add an explosion, from Action Essentials let's say, that is not log. How does this part work? One thing to note,I am...

editing Question about hiring a colorist.

Thanks for the info. So would the workflow be like the following : A base lut is created by someone (colorist?) to convert from log to linear(?). This is sent to VFX company along with the original log footage. All VFX is matched to this footage with the base lut applied. This is then...

editing Question about hiring a colorist.

For my own further understanding, how would the process work for flat/log footage when adding in non flat/log SFX elements? Currently I do all the editing/grading/sfx for our small team so I am able to juggle between grading/SFX . My workflow has been to basically edit->color correct-> SFX ->...

    Help with the 'exposure triangle'!

This is where an ND filter comes into play. You screw them on to the end of the lens and it will drop the exposure by X amount, depending on the ND filter you get. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neutral_density_filter Good luck!

cinematography As a one man crew, or almost one man, do you not bother to use stand ins?

I have been using an incident light meter. I walk the set and check contrast ratios and where the actors are going to be, I take a reading and adjust the light. Granted I am still learning a ton about being a DP but using a light meter has really helped me understand lighting and light ratios.

editing Has anyone tried Davinci Resolve 11?

I believe only a select group of beta testers have tried it. It's scheduled to come out in July. I've seen mostly positive reviews from NAB though. Some compared it to FCPX with timelines? No clue as I use Premiere. I don't believe it's insanely stripped down actually. It's pretty impressive...

    [Community Project] Cinematography

Wheatgrinder, Not sure what part of Oregon you are in, but I have a hacked GH2 and a BMPCC you could possibly use if you're close enough to Roseburg.

    Hostility

Nick, As a new poster myself, I would say I agree with you. I've followed these boards for a few years as a "stalker" if you will, and then decided to post a few times. The responses I have gotten, while perhaps true at their core, have lead me to this self reflection every time I try to...

Having a problem with Premiere Pro.

In the root folder of your project, generally, there should be an autosave folder with the last 10 auto saves in. Unless you disabled that. It happens every 10 minutes I think. Looks like you may have found it. edit: Thinking about it now..it may not be defaulted to the project folder. That...

Should I get a new camera?

Look, you really need to understand this simple concept. I live in a small town of about 20K people. I wanted to make movies.. I came up with a concept, talked to my pastor he got excited..we recruited people from our small church, people I didn't even know well as I had just moved here a year...

    Syncing Audio

First of all I am the one doing all the editing. So I have to deal with myself. I am sure I am not even close to half way competent. If I where to work with a competent editor or post sound guy, I am sure I would have the audio the same day..not weeks away and I would work with them and their...

    Syncing Audio

If you are on the CC version you select both clips, choose merge, then sync by audio. You will get a new merged clip. Or if you have them both in a sequence..select both clips and choose sync..then by audio. If you are not on the latest CC version of Premiere..then for the merge method, you...

    Syncing Audio

I actually do the same. I sometimes won't get the location audio for weeks and want to get the rough cut completed. Not sure how H44 does it, but when I bring my footage in, I create sequences of each one and use these sequences to cut with. This way when I do get the location audio in a few...

    Syncing Audio

Sorry but the slate isn't just useful for syncing audio either. It takes a few seconds per shot on location and saves me minutes per shot in post. With the slate in the frame when the camera starts I can see from the very first frame Scene, Take, Shot etc... so when I bring the footage in, I...

editing Audio Post Workflow - video vs wav

One thing about audition, if you give him the video file it will separate the audio and video for him. If all you have is a video file with the audio, I don't think separating it out a head of time gains anything in this instance. If you have the separate audio files, I would give him that...
