I thought this thread would be a serious discussion on the weather lol! And it's been damn hot this entire month. What happened to fall?
Oh, and welcome!
For $3k there's the Black Magic Cinema Camera. It shoots RAW 2.5k video, but storage space can get expensive since RAW files are large and it requires SSDs as storage in camera.
Canon 5D mark 3, GH3, a used FS100 are also all worth looking at.
Vimeo is partnering with Lionsgate to do a short film contest to celebrate the DVD release of Cabin in the Woods.
Winner gets $10 to make a film.

Sounds good.
If you already have Nikon lenses go for a Nikon I guess. There's the D600 that looks promising. It's full frame but cheaper than the D800. I imagine it would have similar image quality to D800.
Hey dude, if you're looking at the GH2, the GH3 was announced like yesterday. It'll probably be more expensive, but if you wait a little bit, the GH2 price will drop.
Also, the audio dudes here will tell you that mounting a mic to the camera won't get you good audio.
For you GH2 nuts, I came across this reveal for the GH3.
Looks like a step up from the GH2!

Agree with everything being said. Also, there are rumors about a 70D being announced at Photokina in late September. Might want to hold out for that. If it's not worth the upgrade, then the 60D will be even cheaper.
