    lighting Outdoor light setups.

Not too sure what you're referring to by a 1k or 2k. lol I'm really flagging my noobness today.

    lighting Outdoor light setups.

I really do appreciate the help. I would send you a portion of the script, but I literally just finished it, and it needs some re-tooling before it's ready to show around, and it's far from formatted correctly (I figured I could skip it this time since I'm filming it). In the scene, two men...

    editing Labeling audio tracks

Thanks for all your help GP. This sounds like it will cut down my time in post significantly. After you rename the file, does this software allow you to clip the files to eliminate the call and any excess?

    lighting Outdoor light setups.

Hey thanks. I guess I could have given more detail. The truck will be in an abandoned parking lot, there wouldn't be any lights, and the truck is quite old. I suppose then LED's are the way to go. In your opinion, would you prefer to light the the entire cab of the truck or just the subjects? I...

    editing Labeling audio tracks

Thanks for the response. Please forgive my ignorance, but what do you mean by auditioning the sound files?

    editing Labeling audio tracks

This may seem like a dumb question, but how does everyone else log their audio tracks for editing? I have a Zoom H1, and in my last short we didn't yet have a microphone so we attached the zoom to a monopod and used it as a makeshift boom pole. The problem was we would have to bring the pole all...

    lighting Outdoor light setups.

I just need some advice on lighting outdoors in a couple of scenarios. The first, and in my opinion most challenging, Two people in the front of a single cab pickup truck at night... driving of course. The second is just general lighting during the day (it's supposed to be bright with lots of...

Hey thanks! I'm just glad somebody got a laugh out of it.

Thanks for the response. I wanted it to be too much spit, but in post I think I went a little too far.

    archived-videos MagnumXL first short.

Alright guys, here is my first real short film, unrelated to anything I've posted about before. It's the first thing I've ever filmed with the T2I, and the first time I've ever tried filming a full scene while manipulating lights. I desperately want some feedback. I need to know what I'm doing...

Thanks, I'll check them out. Any sources so I can connect the what with the why?

    Scripts online

I really just need to read some dialogue and check my format against what a pro cranks out. I have final draft, but I feel like I'm not using it as intended. If you don't know of any websites some book suggestions would be much appreciated. I did some searches and can't really find exactly what...

    Rant

Most people on here probably wouldn't agree, but I would break the filter if I couldn't get it off and I needed to. Without looking at it, it sounds like it's a little more than overtight, and may be cross threaded. I would be extremely careful, and I don't know what WD-40 would do to your lens...

Can I use the name of a real crime gang?

You should go to a gang riddled area and ask their opinion. They may have a better answer. Be sure to bring plenty of money and flash it around so they know you're a legitimate filmmaker.

    Question about doing research.

Write the scene to the best of your ability. I promise you that whoever reads your script will not care if the SWAT team is using Green Beret hand signals or Navy Seals, and dollars to doughnuts whatever you type will change during production anyway. If at some point you actually do film this...

How are these ideas for short films?

To answer your question, I'm with Ray. 1. Creepy and weird (unless you're pointing out how creepy it is... see American Beauty) 2. If you can find some quality acting old folks willing to take on a weird sex/comedy thing do it. Just keep them in their clothes. 3. Forget the special DP. Use what...

    Question about doing research.

I'm gonna answer your question to the best of my ability, but I have yet to see ANYthing you've done. I realize that I haven't finished my first short, but the difference is about 850 posts. I'm military, and even though my job doesn't require me to be a hero, I work very closely with people...

What made you want to make films?

In my opinion the best film ever made was Tremors... despite being B-grade, derivative and heavy-handed of course. If you do not happen to like Tremors I will not insult your taste fine sir ;).

What made you want to make films?

I guess I really do need to watch that movie again. "Evidently Mr. Ringo's an educated man. Now I really hate him." - Tombstone
