sound When would you use a lav microphone?

When would you use a lav microphone on set, especially when you're making a narrative film? The only reason I could think of is when you're shooting a wide shot - with actors talking - where there's no way of hiding the microphone. I'm curious to know what people think. Thanks.

Can't take my DSLR on an airplane without risks?

I watched this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98FZ8C6HneE&index=217&list=WL and at 8:00 the speaker says that taking your camera on an airplane (whilst flying) will kill photosites. Can anyone confirm this please? And what would you suggest as a solution - to protect your camera's...

    Speckles covering my camera's sensor

I discovered there were speckles on my image. At first I thought it was because my lens was dirty, but when I took some test shots with two other of my lenses the same speckles were still there (same size and same location). I concluded that it was a sensor issue (canon 60D) and used a blower...

Apologies for the late response. No, I shot progressive. I'll try the de-interlace effect. Thanks for comments.

editing Having a problem with interlacing

I'm having a problem with interlacing. When I play back my finished project (with realtime player/quicktime) the image interlaces, specifically when a shot transitions to white. This is what it looks like (ignore the boxes)...

24-105mm Canon L lens, darker when zooming in?

I took some test shots. the 105mm shot doesn't seem as dark as I anticipated. But here are the results anyway. All shot in manual, iso 100, f4 and 1/500. No colour correction. 24mm, 24mm (cropped to match 105mm), and 105mm...

24-105mm Canon L lens, darker when zooming in?

Whenever I shoot video with a 24-105mm Canon L lens (mounted on a Canon 60D), I seem to lose a bit of light as I zoom from 24mm to 105mm. For example, at 105mm the image gets a bit darker than at 24mm+. Is this normal? Thanks.

Recommendation for reasonably price LED lights/LED light?

Recommendation for good LED lights? Hi, I've been given an opportunity to make a video for an organisation and they can grant me a budget of up to £500. I've never used LED lights for video before. So I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice for using LED lights (in an interview set...

    About documentary filmmaking

Thanks. I'll see what I can do with the sound. And thanks that you think it's better. I do have another idea for a documentary. But I won't be able to film it alone and need an assistant to help. Filming wise it would look something like this, but obviously about a different topic...
