    GL2 or VX2100?

Also with the vx2100, you can sorta cheat a 30 frame mode. . . if you manually set the shutter speed to 30. . . I haven't played with the canon too much in frame mode, but sometimes I wonder if "frame mode" is just a locked shutter speed of 30. . . don't quote me on that though, I have no idea...

film-school Film school - to Go or not to go?

Hey, well if you want to check out schools in the US, check out CSU Northridge in California, they have a really good school here, and their screenwriting program is top notch from what I hear. I am currently at CSUN and came here for film, but then switched to digital video art though, and am...

    GL2 or VX2100?

Hmm, well I have a sony vx2100, and it ROCKS!! I do a lot of video for the fresno state marching band, and using the canon cameras the color seemed a bit dry and the picture was a little grainy, and on my sony the color is amazing and the shots are not nearly as grainy. . . well that's my...

    American Film Market

Hey a friend of mine told me I should check out the American Film Market down in Santa Monica, but I wasn't sure if anyone knew much about it? I saw that people could buy badges to attend (but they're a few hundred dollars at least) Does anyone know much about the AFM? Is it free if you just...

    The best Classical Composers....

If it ain't baroque, dont' fix it  ok, on a more serious note  (that second one wasn't intended, but it worked out!) Anyway, well my favorites are Beethoven, his music is just all over, big and loud, sweet and soft, fast, slow, he did it all. Also he rocks because you have to...

How to save .jpg in Final Cut Pro?

I'm talking about FCP, but there's a program that comes with the operating system called "grab", it'll save what you see on the screen. Hehe, it's a silly way to do it, but another way nontheless.

How to save .jpg in Final Cut Pro?

There's an even harder way to do it, if you make the canvas full size, then open up the application "grab" then grab the screen shot of whatever you want and save that. . . but I wouldn't recommend it. . . Just another option I suppose. . . . .

    nice little stereo shotgun mic

I use the Azden SGM-1x shotgun, although it doesn't have much of a directional pickup pattern. . . but it's a shotgun. I use it a lot and it's been GREAT! http://www.azdencorp.com/shotgun.html It has a nice sound. It's XLR too.. . . and is built for field recording, even though I've used it...

This Past Week... what did you do?

Hmm, this week I found a bunch of footage that I had shot with some friends back in Fresno, so I dumped it all back onto my computer to play with. . . whee! Aside from that, school. . . school. . . and more school. Oh and getting ready for the annual Sierra Cup Classic!! 2004! So that'll be fun...

    best quicktime setting?

Here's the really watered down version. Umm MPEG 4 is not layer 4. . . like MP3 (which is not MPEG3, there never was an MPEG 3) MP3 is simply MPEG-1 Layer 3. . . MPEG 1 is a pretty standard compression, good with CDs. . . then came MPEG2, which has a much higher quality video and is good for...

    best quicktime setting?

MPEG 4 rocks!! Oh, well I'm an MPEG fanatic (mpegif.org woohoo!) I would say MPEG 4, for video and audio. Here's the setting I use for my internet videos (you can see the quality here http://homepage.mac.com/directorlca/timelapse/iMovieTheater30.html ) This is just what I use, but play with...

have crap loads of ideas but don't know proper screenwriting? any help?

Check out this book! "How Scripts are Made" by Inga Karetnikova. Great book, very nice. It doesn't tell you HOW to write a script, it gives an understanding. . . if that makes sense. It has helped me out in writing screenplays, (even though I haven't really completed one) but I would recommend...

    archived-videos The Fig Garden

The Fig Garden eh? That's cool. Just a little fast fact, there's a place called the fig garden in Fresno, I think because there used to be an actual fig garden there. . . now it's a shopping center. . . like many places. . . . so there's a nice random fact.

Helping hand thread....it's all about networking

Alright, well here's my shpeal. I am an experience editor, used Final Cut pro since version 2, have edited numerous projects in DV, several in 24P (using reverse telecine with cinematools) and a few HD projects as well. My biggest strength in filmmaking would have to be editing. . . I also...
