Thanks for the additional responses, all :) I started pre-production over a year ago. It's hard to believe it's been that long! It was around January of 2013. I began filming around last November. The reason it's taking so long to get everything shot is because this has been an all volunteer...

Well, the "good luck" at the end of that comes off as really disingenuous after calling me a thief and saying I'm just riding the coattails of other artists. CBS and Paramount have historically been very supportive of fan endeavors. There are fan films that have used Kickstarter to make over...

Thanks! I'll have to throw together an official reel and see if anyone is interested in acquiring my services! I also definitely am thinking about what I want to do after Horizon, and all of those things are original projects, so it won't always be fan films :)

Thank you! :) Glad to see a fellow Trek Nerd! Yeap. From top-to-bottom, I've done everything so far. Sewed the costumes, built, textured, rigged, and rendered all the 3D models, wrote the script, editing, writing the music, shooting and lighting, compositing, sound design, and probably some...

Thanks for the feedback, all! Cracker Funk basically hit the nail on the head. Creating a Star Trek fan film allows me to latch onto an in-built audience where there otherwise would be none. For instance, I don't think I'd be at almost 5,000 views in two days if this were an original property...

They were at the start of the show, but as the four seasons went on, the Vulcans eventually relinquished a lot of that control. There's even less of that at this point, because it takes place in 2160, a couple years after the show ended and one year before the signing of the Federation charter...

Hey all, I've just released the first teaser trailer for my independent Star Trek feature film. What do you all think? :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6lvauYhw70 "Star Trek: Horizon is a feature-length film set during the time of Enterprise (the fifth Star Trek series). The Coalition of...

    archived-videos ElizaNewton - Short Sci-Fi Film

Howdy all, I started this project almost a year ago, and I've just finished it. Shot entirely on the AF100, this film follows a young woman who is granted superhuman abilities and, when she realizes her powers are not strong enough to save the ones she loves, she must decide whether the good...

Thanks for the feedback and for watching. I should note that there many forms of drugs that can come in the form of white powder, including, but not limited to, cocaine, pcp, and heroin. So, make of it what you will. Best of luck on your short, I look forward to seeing it when it comes out!

I've got a few things in the works. A film that I shot last April that I'm still in post production on, as well as a few new scripts I'm mulling over...I'm not really sure what I'm going to be doing next, though.

Thanks so much! Out of interest, what didn't you like about the cinematography as a whole? What can I do to improve my cinematography for my next films? I agree that the emotional connection may not have quite been there, but to make it longer and to add all that extra stuff about her getting...

Good question. I would have lengthened the script a bit, but not too much. I was really trying to keep it to a really short short, and I think in the process some connection to the character got lost. I think if too much was revealed, it wouldn't be effective. That is, I wanted to purposefully...

Interesting points. I wasn't offended at all and it was indeed helpful. It's what you got from it and as long as people aren't spiteful in their criticism I'm totally okay with it. There's always something to learn. Thank you! :)

It was shot on the Panasonic AF100 using the kit lens (Lumix 14-140 f/4.0-5.8), a Canon 50mm fd f/1.8, a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8, and a Formula 5 Gold Crown 75-205mm f/3.5 lens. There was no budget for the film, we shot it in one day. Is there any other information I may provide?

Howdy ya'll, I've just finished up my latest short film, a drama the centers around a young bookstore owner who's struggling with the death of his father when he makes a startling discovery that could change his life forever. The film was shot over the course of two days on the Panasonic AF100...

I think you've got a good start here, but there are a few things that stuck to out to me. The shot framings are generally pretty good, and the shaky cam works okay, it's not too over the top. However, it doesn't seem like it's lit at all. That is to say, it seems to be all natural or available...
