    Wow, what a horrible video.

This version is a million times better... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTqmiwHHktE?t=37s

    What is Required Viewing?

My favorite book of all time right there... the movie, meh, it was alright. Zooey Deschanel makes it worth watching again. As a newbie in the filmmaking world I definitely think there's value in watching movies in your genre of interest, but it's good to branch out in to other genres as well...

    Filming at a Franchise

I'm not sure what kind of scene you'd be filming there, but perhaps you could hang a banner in the background that says something like "grand opening" (or something along those lines) to cover up a bulk of the logos? I dunno, just my random idea.

    One Million Dollars?

Funny, I'm in a lottery pool at my office (the soul crushing day job that barely funds my film hobby), and I was just thinking about this topic on my drive in to work before even seeing this post. My thought was to hire professionals to make a feature film, but I'd have to write it first. I'm...

Yeah, I kinda over did it there with the saturation on purpose... I thought it would work... swing and a miss. I agree with what Scorer said, try to differentiate using different shots next time. I'm gonna chalk that up as part of the learning experience. Thanks! I love all the input I've...

Filming scene w/ guns without permit

I believe Ryan Connolly said one of his early shoots had the cops called on them because someone saw them toting guns around and they stepped outside to have officers pointing guns at them... ya gotta use your head! These guys are really lucky it didn't get ugly.

Looking for a new camera (Need opinions)

I second that on the HF M500. I started out with the HF M40 and got my hands on a refurb M500 and they're both about the same. They're good entry level equipment. My first short, and a music video I just entered in to a contest were both filmed using both of these cameras. Here's the...

    Shooting Inside a Hotel Room.

Thanks! I'm not sure what kind of $$ that will run me, but it certainly can't hurt to look in to it.

"Dream smart, and think!" I think I may have a new motto. Nice breakdown on those numbers. :)

    Shooting Inside a Hotel Room.

I'm curious about how this went. I have a short film that I've written about a pop star who confronts a stalker by luring him to her hotel room. I'm either going to have to find an agreeable hotel or find a friend who has a place that really closely resembles a hotel. Neither sounds easy...

    archived-videos I Love You! :)

Very nice! Yeah, I loved the ending too. I didn't really expect that, and I loved the last line.

    archived-videos The Runner

I liked the camera work and how you revealed the gun. The pacing was a little slow, especially during the kid's walk from point a to b, I think that could have been shorter. As far as the effects go, the initial explosion with the glass blowing out was cool, but then the ensuing fire didn't...

    archived-videos New Music Video

I was adding the flash effect to the transition as sort of a visual cue (at least in my mind) that it's sort of a flashback to happier times... but looking at it over and over now critiquing myself, I think maybe I could have gone a more subtle route. In the color department I went really...

    Cheap/DIY car rig?

So true. On a somewhat related note, this thread gave me an idea. I have a Honda Del Sol that I use as my daily driver. For those of you not familiar with the Del Sol, it's a little two seater with a removable hard top and a rear window that rolls down. I've thought about buying second...

Yeah, not quite sure what you mean by the Eastern European part... sorry it's depressing. But thanks for checking the video out! :)

    archived-videos New Music Video

Thanks! I can see that, and kind of agree. I was going for a narrative music video, but came up a tad short. I had originally planned to film some scenes with the guy alone in his home having bad dreams/flashbacks/etc, and that was intended to be used for that. We ran out of time to...

    Cheap/DIY car rig?

I believe the frugal filmmaker has a diy method of mounting a camera to the hood of your car for little money. I'd find and post for you, but I'm on my phone and can't seem to track it down.

    Short Film that I made

Ha! I can't believe I couldn't place the soundtrack... I thought it sounded familiar, but didn't notice it was from TELL. Anyway, nice work. :)
