    A cautionary Distribution Tale...

Good luck on trying to reacquire your property. It sucks you're having to go through this but you're doing a great service by informing other filmmakers of Supersonic and your dealings with them/him. Please keep us updated on what's happening. My fingers are crossed for you.

Illinois Business Loan for Motion Pictures

For my next project I'm looking to the state for support in financing since I don't know any wealthy individuals. The state offers state residents a loan program with certified financial institutions (i.e. banks). While I don't intend to make a film that tanks their is always the possibility...

    Illinois Film Funding

Several months ago someone told me that the state of Illinois had an incentive program to fund films in the state. I have since lost the link and can't seem to find it. Does anyone know the link? It's not the tax incentive program but a state funding program that will fund your film so long...

    Some FCP questions

I would recommend doing it this way. Export your FCP sequence using Compressor (File/Export/For Compressor). Once the files are in Compressor select the file you want to encode for DVD and choose the setting for DVD Best Quality (16:9 or 4:3 depending on your resolution) and the closest length...

Motion 3 vs. After Effects Pro

It's tough to say since Motion 3 hasn't been released yet. You may want to wait until May, when Motion 3 is released, and see what people who use both think.

Creating Titles in Final Cut Pro

What I gave you is step by step except for this: once the title generator is in the sequence double-click it and it opens in the Viewer. Click the Control tab and you're set. In Book III of the manuals, on page 495, it has all the info. you need about titles.

Creating Titles in Final Cut Pro

Under Effects/Video Generator. Drag Text to the Sequence. You now can modify the text to be credits.

    Harddrive recovery

This is very strange. Even if you delete "hidden" files/folders they shouldn't render the drive inoperable. Have you tried scanning the drive for viruses? What about a disk check to see if the drive has become corrupted somehow?

    Harddrive recovery

Have you tried recovering the folder from the recycle bin?

    36 hours of silence

I'm getting married in July and while I'm trying to figure out how to pay for that I'm also in development on my next feature called Isolation. I still don't know how I'm going to fund that though. And while we're on the subject of movies, Indican Pictures has finally released their synopsis...

    Martin Scorsese won!

Unfortunately it was a pity win. After "Aviator" people were going on and on about how he SHOULD have won considering he'd been nominated so many times. I think the win means nothing.

    editing LiveType question

I agree with Will that the font isn't ideal. Also, FCP/Livetype isn't broadcast safe when it comes to text so I would suggest dropping the brightness level by 10% for the text.

    editing LiveType question

Private Message. Top right corner of the forum. :) As to why it's happening in FCP only that's a little strange. I usually do a Render and then a Render All to make sure everything is happy. As recommended earlier, you could also check your Playback setting. Has this happened before on...

If he's creating a MOV that he's importing into Livetype then it should be rendering out.

    editing LiveType question

Try importing the Livetype file directly into FCP and not the MOV. It really shouldn't matter but you never know. It will need to be rendered in FCP though. It's odd that it's affecting only the center of the video. Can you post the MOV online so we can take a look at it?

    Film Venture (filmventure.com)

Anyone familiar with this company? Good? Bad? I've recently submitted my information (and sent in a copy of my script) but would like to know what I'm getting myself into, assuming there is something to get into. Anyone? Thoughts? Stories?

If you had the budget for it...

I'd shoot either on the HVX200 (in HD mode) or on the Red. And if neither of those was open to me then I'd go with the DVX100A which is still a great camera.

    FTC?

I was going to post a message regarding my next film on a film financiers forum yet I was cautioned that I might be breaking FTC rules. Anyone know where the line is regarding pitching a film project? I thought it was that if you singled someone out then you couldn't request money but if it...
