Finding a distributor for your first feature

Maybe it depends on the sales rep. While mine has done a so-so job most of the interest from distributors has come from me sending copies out worldwide costing me hundreds of dollars. They then contact me and I have to then reference them to the sales rep.

Finding a distributor for your first feature

Most sales reps expect 25%. Are they worth that amount? In my opinion no. 15% would be the absolute highest I'd be willing to go next time.

    Digital Effects

I myself may be interested depending on cost and quality of the work. If you post some samples I'm sure you'd get some serious inquiries.

    Ingenious Idea

I saw this on another forum. Pretty clever I'd say. "Sure, Apple TV is pretty close to useless if you wanna watch stuff on your television. But it's a godsend to at least one independent filmmaker." Read the full article at http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/11/14/appletv_goes_to_the_movies/

    I'm really stuck here...

While HD televisions have only captured a small percentage of the market I anticipate it will explode towards the end of 2008 and early 2009, especially here in the States. The FCC has mandated that in Jan. 2009 all broadcast transmissions must be done digitally. Sure you can get a converter...

    Ripped off

What about e-mail correspondence? Do you have any proof they reneged on an agreement? If it was all verbal you're probably out of luck. Always ALWAYS get something in writing even if it's just for a copy of the finished product on DVD. SOMETHING.

    Ripped off

I agree with Robert. If you're not registering your scripts with the WGA start. If you have contact them and explain the situation and see what they recommend.

editing 80ghz and Macintosh hard drives

I haven't read through every single post in this thread but if it hasn't been suggested and you haven't tried it, go to Disk Utility in your Utilities folder and do a Repair Permissions on that drive. That might fix your problem.

Did Jibjab rip off my video?

Probably coincidence. I'm a firm believer in that there are no new ideas only new ways of presenting ideas. Not a popular opinion from a copyright holders point of view but still.

    Dead in the Water AVAILABLE

Since we now have distribution through Indican Pictures and not self distributing the CustomFlix/CreateSpace link is no longer valid. Just go to Amazon or B&N and search for Dead in the Water and you'll find it. (I think my signature has a direct link to Amazon's site too.)

    The Bottom Down

The updated version is a culmination of the censored and uncensored versions. It's definitely toned down from what I posted originally but it's still brutal.

    The Bottom Down

So we made it into the top ten! (I was getting nervous they'd reject it.) The screening for the top ten films will be held this Sat. in London (visit http://www.halloweenchallenge.com for exact location). I believe this means "The Bottom Down" along with the other finalists will be aired on...

    How do YOU direct actors?

My technique is a little different since I often write the scripts myself. I break the age old rule "write what you can see, not characters thoughts." As I write I often visualize the movie in my head so if there is a specific emotion a character feels I don't hesitate in getting into the...

Dead in the Water Out Now!

Hope you enjoy it more than the average Netflixer. I saw one review there that criticized it for being low budget and other for having a story. Interesting that the critics who have reviewed it like it but the average joe out there doesn't. I blame the torture porn formula of todays horror...

Dead in the Water Out Now!

International Distribution So I'm told by our sales rep the agreements are signed so it's okay to share this. We have a new place for distribution. Dead in the Water has found a home in the UK.
