Silent films had pianists but no voice actors.

That would mean "actors" would have to perform at the Cinema. That would be a "Play" Probably easier to get an orchestra then actors who fit the voices of the performers.

    Few questions regarding first film

I was told by a entertainment lawyer (I am not one so don't take this as legal advice) that you can "casually mention a person, TV show or movie in your film. You can NOT however perform ANY dialog or sing any songs owned by others. He said a "Clearance" company will tell you to get permission...

Aren't most of the feature films on crowdfunding sites "for-profit businesses?"

Dov Simens seems like a great guy. Has anyone here taken his course? He doesn't have any actual "director" or "producer" credits on imdb.com. I'm just curious how "Dov Simens" became the #1 film instructor? A lot of IT folks have a bunch of writer/producer/director credits. I mean for example...

    MovieCloud Breaks Hollywood's Monopoly

Can you buy just one pen and see if you like it? I hate not being able to test drive something. The 'all of nothing" option doesn't work for me.

    Let's analyze John Carter

I wasn't talking about the "AGE" of the source material. Only if the average 15 year old audience member would recognize the characters in the movie. The age of the material doesn't matter only "branding" However, there are a lot of branded characters that did do as well at the box office as...

What VC are looking for to fund projects.

I've seen low risk/high return. Someone I talked to bought some desert land in the outskirts of Las Vegas for like 25K. The area got developed with housing complexes 5-9 years later and the land eventually went to $400,000 I think people ARE willing to take chances if they are passionate about...

    Let's analyze John Carter

I thought it was because everyone knows ; Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor… John Carter??? Is he Jimmy Carter's brother??? Huh??? "Hey Kids, you want to see THE AVENGERS or this movie named after some John guy with the last name Carter?" In my humble opinion the reason is so obvious. ;)

    MovieCloud Breaks Hollywood's Monopoly

It's kinda beside the point if you can make a movie on $1,000. The question is can you get all the software/stuff Movie Cloud offers for less than $1,000? I think so. Most of the "hard" stuff that makes a movie great is writing a unique script and finding great actors. I don't see the software...

    hiring a produer

That brings up an interesting question. Can you hire an "employee" and pay them deferred pay legally? Or is that some type of partnership or intern by law?

It was funny. The actor really nailed that type of odd character. Well done!

    hiring a produer

Sounds like you got a person that wants a paycheck not someone who really wants to produce a film. I say drop him TODAY and get someone willing to be a contractor. My two cents. Good Luck

Steve, Thanks for sharing your campaign. I added it to my database of successful crowdfunding campaigns to study. Can't beat clips form Seinfeld, David Letterman and JOHNNY CARSON. I can see why it worked! cheers

    MovieCloud Breaks Hollywood's Monopoly

Interesting. In my humble uneducated opinion I don't see the $1,000 price point working for indie folks. A contact list without having a relationship with the people on it is a phone book. Calling entertainment people you don't know off a list of contacts is going to get you in the voice mail...

Please forgive me slow mind. Can you explain in 25 words or less Exactly how it works? Every big business has that one line hook.
