POLL: How is this opening scene?

Swingers isn't the best example. I prefer minimalist writing as well. I think writers think they need LOTS of description so they stab the reader in the brain with "detail" daggers. A few words can say a lot. It's not about background chatter and all that. It's more about capturing the reader...

    archived-videos Pitch/Teaser: The Kohlman Files

I like the concept, the location and the music. However, I feel like there should be some "horror" in the trailer. A little too much of the main character typing and searching with a flashlight. I want to be scared in the trailer a bit. Not sure how, but I'm sure you can come up with something...

POLL: How is this opening scene?

I don't feel like you brought the reader "into the world" Below is a movie that begins with two friends talking in a coffee house. Swingers See how the reader is led into this world the hollywood hangout and the young dreamers who dwell there. see what I mean? best of luck Example...

POLL: How is this opening scene?

My question is do we need to know their hair color at all? If I'm a name actor with red hair, would I say "I guess I don't fit either one of these roles, too bad stop reading now… darn!" (Yeah, someone can color their hair but the more you use EXACT physical types the more the reader locks...

POLL: How is this opening scene?

Just curious about formatting, why is "BLONDE" in all caps.. "...has BLONDE HAIR" That kinda stopped me. If there was a scene where someone says "I can't wait to meet a blonde!" you might have a sentence "the lady enters, she's BLONDE…" To stress the hair color. Sorry if I'm being too critical...

Using the name of a TV show in your film

We had a major discussion about this on our set. I spoke with a entertainment lawyer who said a casual mention of a TV show or movie shouldn't be a problem. For example in the Movie Clerks the actors mention Star Wars, the Death Star. Did they get permission for that? Who knows? When in doubt...

Are audiences skeptical in believing in youth criminal characters?

BTW - In the director's cut the ending makes more sense. :)

People are still going to the movies.

Some of the cinemas I attend in LA have digital projection. I might be wrong but it's probably not more expensive than a 35mm projector. I'm sure they'll keep up.

Are audiences skeptical in believing in youth criminal characters?

Great points on this thread! But I think an audience judges a big studio production differently then a small indie film. If an established network TV show has Doogie Howser, M.D. the kid doctor, it's cool and interesting. If you do a small movie and your injured hero is suddenly visited by a...

How to make a young person look like a 60 year old woman

Funny Side Note: In the early 1990's I was calling video distributors for a film I produced. The first guy I got on the phone asked - "You don't have younger people in make-up to look like older people in your film do you?" For decades the younger actor made-up as an older person has been the...

Are audiences skeptical in believing in youth criminal characters?

Is there any way to not show his face in editing. This is probably a challenge. But maybe worth a shot. Depends on the footage. Maybe you can re-shoot an insert?

Are audiences skeptical in believing in youth criminal characters?

The movie The Big Hit has a bunch of young hit men. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120609/ But as stated below the actors and the material really sell it! This might be tough to pull off.
