    Color Correction

What I meant was: my DP is fairly sure we DID check both cameras and it looked fine on set, but he may be mistaken. Memory is fallible and it’s been such a long time since the shoot. Regardless of this, I take it no one has any other suggestions for software? I’ve heard that the new Premiere...

sound Anyone know the deal with music ?

When I got my permission, they just faxed me the letter I sent to them with a handwritten note that said “Gratis - 1 year” and the person’s initials.

    Are macs better at editing?

Mac processors handle video information more efficiently than a PC, so you need less processing power to accomplish the same thing. However I use a PC and it works just fine.

    Paying for DVD logo?

see zensteve's link (http://www.dvdfllc.co.jp/). The DVD logo is just like any other trademark and is NOT in the public domain. The word DVD, of course, is not, but you can not use the logo (DVD with the little circle under it or any variation infringing on their copyrights) without...

    Question

You can get a fat filter that adds ten, or a thin filter that takes off ten (they use this sometimes with big stars). Check this out for more info: www.if_you_believe_this_I_have_some_oceanfront_property_in_Arkansas_you_may_like_to_buy.com

Yeah, we had a 12" ish (it wasn't mine so I'm not sure of the exact size - heavy as f*** though) studio monitor on location. However this was several months ago, and I may be mistaken and we never actually looked at the B camera on the monitor, only the A.

    Paying for DVD logo?

Amen brother. On the other hand: never underestimate the stupidity of people. This is why lawnmowers have that stupid sign that says: don’t chop your fingers off. They may not know it’s a DVD unless you tell them. ](*,) Does anyone know if the “VHS” designation that appear sometimes on...

sound Anyone know the deal with music ?

From: http://www.ascap.com/filmtv/faq.html Q: WHAT LICENSES MUST I GET TO USE A SONG IN MY FILM? A: If you are using a pre-recorded song or another pre-recorded piece of music in your film, there are two rights you need to clear; that is to say, you need to get two different licenses to use...

    Paying for DVD logo?

I didn’t realize the DVD logo was proprietary. Why not just make your own that is similar but not infringing on that logo?

    Jump Backs for sale

That looks good and is fine, but not very useful for our particular needs. However if you can get us StackTraxx for a more reasonable price we’d be very interested. Can you get them, and for how much?

    Color Correction

Yeah, actually we did, and we checked the cameras against it and it looked fine at the time. I think the viewfinder on my camera is too bright because I keep wanting to underexpose. I’m getting ready to send it to Canon now for maintenance, and hopefully this will solve this problem and a few...

cool, my camera doesn't handle florecents very well, but I have a warmcard set and balance off the minus green, and it works fine.

    Color Correction

Well, we figured out a way to use only the footage from the A camera (and a few select cutaway closups which I can salvage from B), and make it work for our needs. It’s not what I want, but it’s better than having crappy color match, and we don’t have enough time for a reshoot as we’re past...

daylight - blue incandescent - orangeish florescent - greenish come cameras white balance to fluorescents better than others. The only way to be absolutely sure you know what to expect is to screen test it. As they mentioned above what is hardest to deal with is mixed light.

which camera would be the best?

24p is the frame rate it films at and also indicates that the frames are progressive scan and not interlaced. Of course film is 24p, NTSC TV standard is 29.97 interlaced frames (or basically 30 fps, 60 fields ps - see also http://www.fact-index.com/n/nt/ntsc.html). HD is the resolution of the...

Good point, in a space where all the light is coming from the top like with fluorescents, it can cause some serious raccoon eyes unless you have something to fill. A reflector works well when you can get it close enough.

    Color Correction

It was a two camera shoot, and while it looked okay while shooting, one camera appears to be 2 - 1/2 stops or so down from the other. Also the bright camera is a little overexposed so the reds and a couple of other highlights are over saturated, and on the underexposed camera they’re dull. I...

    lighting flourescent lighting

The best thing is to get a minus green filter. It will filter out the wavelengths that give everything that green pallor, and then white balance on white. You can pick up a Tiffen for about $20 on ebay. Look for an FL-D or FL-B filter depending on what setting you use. FL-D is probably the...
