I have a plan, tell me if you think it will work:

In my vastly limited experience, TV run-and-gun production is a whole other animal that creative cinematography. Just look at the crappy commercials the local TV stations produce. I mean, pan left, pan right, show the outside of the store, and that’s it. I think it’s good experience, but set...

I need to know what to charge!

Don’t do flat rates. It’s a sure way to loose money. Do expenses + hourly or day rates. That way if that 3-hour production turns into 12, you won’t get the shaft. I also break my contracts down into 3 parts: pre-prod, prod, and post. That way, when the project changes and the production...

    Product placement

It would help if you had a negative pickup or some other distribution deal in place. Even a letter of commitment from a dist will add credibility that more than just the cast, crew, and family will see your production. You can pitch it any way you want, but why should I believe that thousands...

TV show rights have expired/ What can I use?

First you need to learn about copyright law. Go to http://www.copyright.gov/circs/circ15a.pdf and http://www.copyright.gov/circs/circ1.html to get the law straight from the source. Second, that response means that WB had a limited use license granted to them from the copyright owner. They...

A Feature Film PA job with no pay?

It’s a PA position. Don’t ask for more than $50 - $100 per day. Points (and deferment to a lesser extent) are meaningless because how will you know if you’re due anything unless the producer tells you? Don’t do it for free, but don’t sweat it too much. Ask for enough that it will not be a...

    Other scriptwriting software?

I’ve heard from a lot of people that Final Draft is becoming the industry leader simply because the files have no cross-platform problems and does basically what Movie Magic does. I’ve never had any problems with it.

    sound Copyright Free Classical Music....?

Sorry for the lengthy post. There are some links below, but there are some incorrect statements here. Clive said, “Will's right. You can't use existing recordings, but providing the composer has been dead for 75 years the music is in the public domain.” No, not really. First, for works...

    Shooting

Well, starting with a wide (establishing shot) and then moving in for close-ups is basic camera work 101. There may be times when other setups are more practical, but you’ll pay for it in editing. If you have the time, space, and time then do it that way. I personally love using 2 and 3...

    Securing Rights for Film Clip

    1. Go to http://www.copyright.gov/ to find out about copyright law. 2. That seconds thing is bunk. Every single frame of a motion picture is covered under copyright law. 3. Copyright is like any other commodity, the owner can sell it for as little or as much as she/he sees fit. If you really...

    Newb FireWire question

I don’t know of any camera that uses a 6pin, but many computer components do. The only difference between the 4 and 6, is that the extra two leads on the 6 carry a power charge, it doesn’t carry any additional information nor is it any faster.

I didn’t know it has skins. That's cool. I just think it's kind of dark, and I'm not overly fond of they gray. I like that muted blue from before.

    copyright Copyrighting a Short Script

The WGA registration has no legal backing or empowerment. The US government has gives you certain legally enforceable domestic and international rights. And it's only about $10 cheaper. WGA: $20, Term: 5years, provides third party proof of date “Why should I register my material...

Check this out: http://www.vittoni.it/catalog/images/1394-6M4M-018.jpg. The one on the RIGHT is the 6-pin, and the one on the LEFT is the 4-pin. The port for the 6-pin looks like: http://www.bean.cz/b4u/obr/clanky/rozhrani/fwire.jpg Here’s one more that lays it out well...
