    Getting started in the industry

I'm guessing to get into documentary making you will need something to prove your worth to show to any production company that might be interested in a documentary you have in mind. So my advice is to get a camera and a friend who's also passionate about your chosen subject, and then make a low...

Need Camera Help Fast - Thanks

Hey guys, thanks for the advice. I've been researching cameras for the last few months. I have very little money left after paying my rent and bills so I'm on a very low/tight budget. Bad credit, so no cards or loans. I've decided not to go HD despite the amazing examples out there for the HV...

    Hello, from London!

First of all, not all minidv is cheap looking. That's not correct. It depends on the person behind the camera as much as the camera. The XL1 is a broadcast quality camera and i wouldnt be surprised if those shows used one. The best format for anyone is the one they can afford. To be honest...

    Baga'a - Short script

That is excellent. Very well written. I'd be tempted to keep it for myself. You know normally, I'd have quite a few criticisms and a list of mistakes. It's faultless. Don't touch it.

    life sucks-help

Are you saying you're a character without a story? Or are you debating what I said? I guess you could try and have a character without a story, but any character with any depth will eventually reveal a story of some form. So if your character doesn't reveal a story, it's a bad character...

    life sucks-help

Dude are you high? I made two posts completely void of weed... Interesting post you have there. Except you're wrong. Nobody is making you do anything. You want to travel around the world with nothing but a rucksack and a sleeping bag? Do it. Nobody is stopping you. Who do you feel is...

Surprise, surprise, I found a reason to write some Na'vi into my movie!

I'm actually impressed by what i've read here. I mean, it's sad when you think about it. But then you think about it some more, and it's not as sad as you first thought. It has its merits. As you said, the dedication is applaudable.

I would like to add something constructive. If you want to make films, learn the art of storytelling inside-out.

    life sucks-help

I wonder, if Scorsese and Coppola had the internet before they became film-makers, would they have become film-makers at all? Or would they have just joined a forum and talked about it, but not actually done it? It's fun to think on. This is not a dig at the OP or anything, just an...

dialogue Writing a script for a film (or sequence) with no dialogue

Awesome post and explanation. Thanks alot. :) I have to get to sleep, i'm up early and heading for Newcastle tomorrow for a concert, so I'll comment on this fully when I get back home on Wednesday! I've written a few sequences myself that could probably be improved with your methods.

    Twelve Petals - short script

It seems to me the Crip walking by at the end is like an insight into Leons past, where he's come from. If you ask me, Leon DOES change, because he sticks his finger up at the Crip, ultimately turning his back on his past. It's quite symbolic, if people would look past the described action.

Hello all, glad to be here

Hey man, that was actually pretty awesome. Good photography, good editing, good music, all worked together to create a cool but tense atmosphere. Really well done. As a writer, I'd really love to see the script, and how the actions/descriptions were written...
