Hello all.
I'm about to receive my first camcorder, a Panasonic GS250. It should come around Wednesday. Now, being a miniDV camcorder, I don't want to go wasting tape and battery time. I want to get to short film-making as soon as possible, but I have no experience with a camcorder.
So, what...
Also, max word count?
Try and pick this up:

Well I went and bought a GS250. Girlfriend says i'm not allowed it until after Christmas...so naive >:]
Now i'll just need to pick myself up a microphone and make a handle. Hopefully i'll soon be able to make my first short from something i've written myself.
This is what I was thinking.
I built my computer myself in 2005.
CPU - Athlon 3200
Ram - 2gb PC3200 (good brand)
GFX - Nvidia 8800GTS 320mb
Audigy 2 sound card
1 180gb sata hard drive and 1 40gb ide hard drive
It still runs bloody good for its age, i'm proud of it, so i wont be upgrading for...
I'm looking at either a cheap compact DSLR, the Panasonic FZ38. The only thing that puts me off of this camera is that it doesn't have a manual focus ring or mic jack. It does have a stereo mic though, and the test footage online looks lovely. Saying that, my computer is 4 years old and will...
I made some great friends there too. And most people are at least likeable.
As you say directorik, there are some good reviewers. But one thing to remember about being a member there, is that reviewing scripts is as helpful to you as it is to the other guy. Critically breaking down a screenplay...
I saw this almost a week ago, and i'm still not sure. There are so many things people were not able to comprehend for so long, and things we still can't. Who's to say time travel isn't one of those things?
People are as helpful there as you are...meaning it's an active community. You have to be active to be noticed. I don't spend half as much time there as i did (keep meaning to), but when I was reviewing quite a bit, my uploads were always reviewed when assigned. It's great for other reasons too...
Hey man, I'm about to start a degree in Creative Writing at Birkbeck - if you find any film-making clubs, let me know, as i'd really like to meet some people in a similar position, willing to produce some outside work.
As for books, I've heard...
The above list can only be considered complimentary to good storytelling. IMO, story comes above all else, and it is an art - as demanding and rewarding as any other art.
You should go to your local book store/library/amazon and pick up some books. I really found "Writing Movies" by the Gotham...
Funnily enough I re-watched This Is England last night at my girlfriends insistence (she started watching the TV adaptation). It definitely has that edge to it.
Thanks for reading guys. You know, I may adapt it into a screenplay. It could do with stretching out and being given more depth. As it...
For anyone who doesn't know, I like to write. I've written a few screenplays, short scripts and short stories and some other stuff. I also write movie reviews on my blog.
Anyway, the point of this post. Last night, I finished writing a short story for entry into a competition on the theme of...
Rob Pattinson is not beautiful - he is fugly. He looks like a naan bread that hasn't slept for a month.
I will never, ever, EVER, watch a film in which he acts.
