recommened books on directing, cinematography and screenwriting

I haven't got too many books on directing at the moment, but I recommend Michael Rabigers Directing: Film Techniques and Aesthetics. Covers a whole lot of stuff including on set to theory. Can be quite a heavy read compared to some other books as it goes in depth, but fantastic!

lighting Any tip on lighting and camera movement for an action/suspense film?

The topic of camera movement and lighting is too vast to fit in this thread. I suggest you read some tutorials online or buy some good cinematography books if your just looking for general tips.

Your talking about a making a feature I take it? And yeah, don't worry too much about spending loads on all the best gear at first. Get to grips with the art of filmmaking more first.

How am I to get the client for a little amount of money though, with the movie not even being guaranteed success?

    Convincing agents/managers

I may have some money at the time, but if I do I doubt it will be very much. I understand I may run into troubles if I'm working with union actors. No problem! Ah, thanks!

    Convincing agents/managers

Could someone also please point out the main difference between an agent and a manager when it comes to hiring actors? Is it just the money?

    Convincing agents/managers

Thanks! Is it advised to meet up with client and/or manager in person or to phone them. What if they're quite far away?
