Feature shot entirely on Rebel T2i.

I tried to watch it, got bored very quickly. Move along people, you didn't miss anything.

    The Golden Rectangle

It's an interesting thought. Will try it out. But for the hundredth time, you don't need a matte. Just make your sequence the desired size.

color-grading How do you learn to color grade?

After Effects is layer based and Resolve is node based. i've never used Resolve but I understand that's quite a different approach.

color-grading How do you learn to color grade?

The tutorials from Stu Maschwitz (works a Red Giant) were the first videos I started wit (this one in particular about the Orange/Teal) : http://library.creativecow.net/articles/maschwitz_stu/red-giant-blockbuster-film-look/video-tutorial The thing about grading is that there is not real...

How does this guy's camera get so bright at night?

This is not correct. The night is dark because the universe is not static not because the stars are far. If the universe was static, the billions of starts you're referring too would lighten up the night sky to the same level than day. It's referred to as Olber's Paradox.

    It's everything but cheap.

editing $5000 for an editing workstation?

Seriously, music is more demanding in RAM than VFX work ? I can hardly believe that.

How to do a long, destructive, follow shot?

Yeah, that's the icing on the cake :D. This guy took part into a Tarantino sponsored online competition (into which I planed to participate) and he made the winning entry. The idea was to make a 2m shot that rips off QT's universe. He nailed it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WenXwyGjsQ

editing $5000 for an editing workstation?

That's what I said, it all depends on how much you value OSX. I also like OSX over Windows but it's definitely not worth me paying twice the price. W7 never failed me and doesn't have any serious (or even not serious) flaw that makes me run into the expensive arms of OSX.

editing $5000 for an editing workstation?

That's what I'm saying. You don't need to blow 1300$ just for an i7, an SSD and 16 GB of RAM.

    Free Widescreen Bars Preset!

I agree with every word you said. I should make a YouTube video to tell people how to do it the proper way.

    Free Widescreen Bars Preset!

Well, you're not, you're confusing them. When I started looking into matte-boxing, I was confused by the hundred of videos and plugin's and presets. When in truth, you don't need anything else than knowing how to use your software.

Do you need to act to direct?

Absolutely not. Acting can help understand some mechanisms but is absolutely not a necessity to direct actors. As a director, you have a vision in your mind. You can picture in your mind what you want. The same way you direct your DP to achieve the looks, you direct your actors to achieve the...

Don't put widescreen bars and crop your video. It's a shit load cleaner and easier.

editing $5000 for an editing workstation?

First, Freddiew makes a living out of filmmaking. By definition, it' makes him a profesional. Just because it's for YouTube doesn't make it any less professional than anyone else. I'd take advice from him before anyone else in the industry because he's much closer to where we come from than any...
