Trust Your Audience (or do you?)

Nice website btw, gonna have a proper good look through that. Did chuckle when I noticed the first article is entitled "THE AUDIENCE IS STUPID"

Making DVD's on a Pc, Can you help?

What's wrong with DVD Maker out of interest?? Beggars can't be choosers and all that ;)

Trust Your Audience (or do you?)

Good stuff!! Yeah totally appreciate there's no "one size fits all" answer to this just wanted to pick the big bad brains on here. The B-Line story is really interesting. We're looking at the 5-10min mark for the shorts so it's going to be hard to establish a really complex character with just...

Trust Your Audience (or do you?)

Friend and I are writing some scripts for Short Films. We've recently had a creative discussion/Argument about his latest script. I felt that almost every aspect of the 'PLOT' was buried within the subtext. At the end I wasn't sure what had happened. He replied that you've got to Trust...

Experimental or Fictional for Film Fest Submission

Thanks guys!! Gonna submit to the Short Fiction then.

Quick tips for come up with scripts!

The Link/Buttons are really annoying...Virtually unreadable. Had to watch the first one three times before I just gave up trying to read what it said and clicked one randomly. Spent a few minutes watching/rewatching, pausing to try and read the buttons, then trying to go back to the first one...

Experimental or Fictional for Film Fest Submission

Possibly a dumb question... Found a festival I'd like to submit my first short to... but slightly torn between the "Experimental Short" and "Short Fiction" category. The Film in question is essentially a monologue (although technically it's a dialogue as he's talkin to someone off screen)...

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

Apparently Tarantino gave Scott the choice of True Romance or Reservoir Dogs and he'd do the other one. Aliens... Obv seen before but not for a long time. Was the Deluxe Edition (or whatever it's called) and I was really suprised just how jarring the "removed" scenes were. The dialogue and the...

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

Last weekends Films... Dear Wendy... There's just so many things that just don't make sense in this film, the "twist" was enjoyable but it was all laughable rather tense, silly rather than gripping. 5/10 Old Boy... Totally awesome, looked beautiful, lot's of really great editing. Nice and...

tv Does the MTV generation demand too much from filmmakers?

I'd say make the movie the way you want, don't try and guess what the audience will want. I know that's idealistic, but if you don't like what you're making...is it really worth doing?? I grew up with MTV in the 80's... so who are you referring to??

archived-videos Zombies!- My new short film.

Yeah I'd agree with this. The Zombie attacks her and she remains sitting....Leg injury or not I'd be outta there. ALso...She seems to be sat on the floor, holding a short stick...yet seems to hit the zombie in the head with a knockout blow...Didn't feel right to me!! The "Panda eyes" on the...

How to creat that scary jump scene?

That's an awesome gif...which I had those kind of reactions. ISn't there a famous story of Spielberg re-cutting Jaws to include the dead man under water scare. And afterwards when audiences watched it, they jumped for the Dead man but less so when the shark appears as they were anticipating the...

cinematography POV camera shot in to mirror?

This is a pretty good, if simplistic, explaination of how to do a POV in a mirror... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZ6gk1xWl78 That shot from Contact is all kinds of madness, really makes my head hurt thinking about it... This is a great clip explaining how they did that shot...

archived-videos My first film - LGBT short film

Really nice, beautifully shot and very sweet story. Maybe you're selling it short describing it as a "LGBT Short Film"... This "Short Film" has enough charm to appeal to anyone!! Great Job.

archived-videos HEY EVERYONE PLEASE VIEW MY SECOND SHORT FILM

Given it a watch, here's my two cents. Think the story line lacks a bit motivation...Who are they? Why are they doing what they're doing? Just feels a bit ... Boy Meets Girl and She kills him LOLS!!! Feels a bit silly. Especially when she's chopping him up because it looks like she's dicing...
