Need help choosing equipment at $2000 budget

It looks like CMOS and CCD are gone. It is 3MOS that rules now. I'm back to my list. Panasonic AG-HMC40. It IS over my budget, but I'm ok with that. Maybe there are other options for A $2000 camera? Native 24P, NO miniDV, NO CMOS.

Need help choosing equipment at $2000 budget

Thanks for your advise, but tt has CMOS sensor! I can get XL2 or DVX-100 for the same money on ebay. Both have 3CCD sensors. The problem is they are miniDV and I foresee video transfer issues...

This is why you buy the T2i.

It might be my playback, but when camera shakes it looks like people are moving in sync with the shake, while seats are stable....

Zoom and NTG already purchased. I am very reluctant on CMOS lenses, so no Canon 7D... All 3CCD camcorders with HD and 24P support record on mini-DV tapes. Here comes ANOTHER problem with pouring the video into PC.

editing No IEEE 1394 port. Are there any solution?

I am going to buy mini-DV camera and have Acer Aspire 5820TG notebook without IEEE 1394 port. Are there any solution to pour DV video to my Acer? I have plenty USB ports and HDMI port built-in.

Panasonic AG DVX100 vs Canon XL2

Ok, i am going to sacrifice HD and get more pro SD camera. I need 24p, "film look" camera with as many manual control abilities as possible. I plan to buy a pre-owned camera. I have read many reviews on both of the subjected cameras, but need real users of both cameras to share their thoughts...

Nice to hear that! Do you think Canon XL2 is a good choice? I need a recommendation which MONITOR to purchase.

Need help choosing equipment at $2000 budget

So, the audio gear is purchased. I got Zoom, NTG-2 and Oktava MK-012. Now, its time to finalize with camera. Here is what I found on the net googling "the best camera for indie film" :) source I have a feeling that neither HD nor 24p on miniDV tapes is ever really possible. Am I wrong?

Another issue with the DSLR Camera is not being able to hook up an external monitor or am I wrong? And, BTW, what monitor would you recommend on set and for post?

DSL camera's ergonomics is just not for filming AT ALL. I will definitely need to always use tripod not only for stable shots, but as a steadycam as well. There is simply no way to shoot a video holding a camera in hand.

2 Alcove Audio, if that is the way it records, then I am a happy man... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIlkAweOC_k

it IS my playback. Something is wrong with my ATI Mobility Radeon. Intel Graphics generates no such horizontal shear effect.

The jello effect is very obvious during fast panning or hand moving of the camera. It is also noticeable in case of a rapid move of the shot object. Although it was 500D NOT 550D, but I can see the same issues in the videos shot with 550D uploaded on youtube. Another thing that annoys me a lot...

I really liked the manual control rings, but 500D's Full HD is at 20p maximum. And I did not like the jelle effect.
