Can a maximum ISO 800 camera make a good feature film?

Thank you. I actually like your answer. Indeed, good cinematography from a learned person and the right techniques are so important to get great images with almost any camera.

Can a maximum ISO 800 camera make a good feature film?

We live and we learn. Thanks for these insights. They indeed shed some light (no pun intended) into my understanding (limited) of ISO.

Can a maximum ISO 800 camera make a good feature film?

The Blackmagic Production Camera 4K and Ursa Mini 4K both have a maximum ISO of 800. Can either of these cameras make a good feature film? When I say 'good' I am not referring to the story of the film etc. but I am referring to the images. It is a pity that 800 is the maximum ISO on these two...

Do you know of any theatrically released feature film(s) that used the below Rokinon Cine lenses? http://www.rokinon.com/lenses/cine-ds-lenses Also, regarding the swivel type lens hood that says 'Rokinon', is this detachable from the lens?

cinematography Wide angle lenses and anamorphic lenses

Thanks jax_rox. This is understandable. Can you recommend any further reading in terms of a chart that shows anamorphic lens ratios matched to a sensor and the resultant aspect ratio? Something like the below: 1.3x => 16:9 => 2.39:1 2x => 4:3 => 2.39:1 2x =>4:3 => 3.55:1 etc.

cinematography Wide angle lenses and anamorphic lenses

Thanks for the reply and the link. Interesting video. However I have read elsewhere that 1.3x or 1.33x (I think) is the recommended anamorphic ratio for an intended 2.39:1 aspect ratio, however you have said that 1.3x gives less an effect. 2x ratio gives a much wider (greater than 2.39:1 aspect...

cinematography Wide angle lenses and anamorphic lenses

Let us consider an 18mm wide angle lens (spherical) and a 35mm anamorphic lens with a 1.3x squeeze ratio. I understand the principle of the anamorphic lens, in that it squeezes the image onto the sensor horizontally and one can desqueeze the image in post, resulting in a wide image. I also note...

Thanks for your reply! I think it was myself, in that, I misheard the word 'ways' for 'waste'. Appreciated!

    cinematography Lens question

Please have a look and listen to the below clip especially from position 2:42. Can you figure out what the speaker has said? It sounded like he said one of the below: The phrase: "Less ways to hide" or "Less waste to hide" After listening to what he said please comment on what you think he...

cinematography What is wrong with this clip?

Wow jax_rox, I have learnt a lot from this; thank you!. It is good when a pair of experienced eyes can offer their input, so others can learn. In terms of bit-rate and compression, I assume these are unique to a camera and cannot be adjusted and therefore they are fixed values? Hence, the only...

cinematography What is wrong with this clip?

Please have a look at the first 5 seconds of the below video in full 1080p HD repeatedly. Regarding that 1st five seconds with the character walking, I have taken that clip and using After Effects, did different color correction applications and film grain application etc. and still cannot seem...

sound Any films you know that had a digital score?

Nice to know. Good examples. Also to clarify, I said 'digital' in my thread's title but I meant any sampler digital or analogue that was connected and played through DAW software and composed in the DAW software.

sound Any films you know that had a digital score?

When I say digital score I mean an orchestral score that was created for music for the entire film (i.e. where music is required), using VST orchestral instruments etc. e.g. the EastWest Symphonic orchestra.

sound Any films you know that had a digital score?

So I searched here first for a discussion about this and found none similar. Do you know of any famous film(s) that had its entire score created by computer music (i.e. DAW and virtual instruments/plugins)? Therefore the score was the final music composed in and rendered in the DAW and used in...
