    Feedback for first screenplay?

I also made it about 8 pages. Clearly you know how to write and it's evident that you put a lot of work into this - congratulations on finishing your first screenplay! That said, there is quite a bit of tedium in those first 8 pages. I don't know what he story is about and I'm not compelled to...

Your video clip is off center in the frame. Center it and it should look right.

Perfect, I will add you now.

    Books about life

A couple of my favorites are How to Win Friends and Influence People (which I gather you knew already, since you mention Carnegie), The Art of War by Sun Tzu, and The Prince by Machiavelli. The latter two are obviously much older texts but just as relevant today as they were hundreds of years ago.

Chewy, the Rabid Puppy! ( IndieMeet 2016)

Darn, wish I had seen this when you first posted it! I just visited Vegas for the first time this April and I've been looking for an excuse to go back. IndieMeet looks like just that perfect excuse. The videos are great! (And on a side note, I also have a puppy named Chewy)

Anyone cool with answering a few questions?

I'm not as experienced as many here, but hopefully I can help with your assignment! 1) How long have you been making films? What got you started? Why do you make films now? I started when I was around 13 (early 1990's) when one of my friends got a video camera. Our first project was a...

    Forum Discussion

Sorry, I meant in general. Including the quotes you had above. Sure some are a bit snarky (I think the filter of a computer monitor and keyboard brings that out) but I certainly would not consider most of them to be an "attack." You'll disagree with me, and that's fine. But here is what I see...

    Web Host?

On a facebook group I belong to, several users recommend parakeetsites.com (it's managed by another user in that same group). $9 a month.

    Forum Discussion

I'm involved in a couple online creative communities, and while I am less active here than in the others, I really find this one to be much more polite in its criticism. To be honest if I had a script and was looking for critique online, this is the board I would put it on. Even the snarkiest...

    Crowdfunding Question

I haven't personally run any campaigns, but I have donated to them. It's always somebody whose work I'm already familiar with. I will donate if I have confidence in the project and the team behind it. If the campaigner has no track record, or rookie mistakes in the campaign (poorly...

    Shooting a car accident

One character's car sideswipes the other forcefully enough for the second car to spin out. I originally wrote it as taking place on a multi-lane highway at high speed, where the second car rolls down an embankment. I had mostly (but not fully) abandoned this idea by the time I posed the question...

    cinematography Which Camera

I mean this in the nicest way possible: you should entirely leave this decision up to your DoP. If you need 4K, you'll need to rent a camera. If you don't know if you need 4K, then you don't need it. The 550 camera shoots in 1080P and you will not find another 1080P camera that shoots in any...

    Shooting a car accident

All good advice, thanks - I wouldn't dare try to attempt the stunt myself but it sounds like even hiring a stunt driver would be well over my head. I may consider writing the scene at night and using quick cuts to fake it.

    cinematography Which Camera

Apples and oranges, but both are good cameras. The 550D is a DSLR camera whereas the Panasonic is a video camera. Both produce very nice images but they're also a few years old. Check out footage of both cameras on YouTube or Vimeo (there is plenty out there) to see if either produces the look...

    Shooting a car accident

I am writing a story right now that I will be producing myself, and at a somewhat pivotal moment in my outline a car is run off the road. It doesn't have to be an over-the-top, Fast and Furious type crash, but it needs to look intense enough that the passengers are convincingly shaken up...

Is there any place I can research undercover police procedure?

There are thousands of books on Amazon about undercover police work. Fiction, nonfiction, legal reference... literally thousands. If you're willing to spend a few dollars there is no shortage of information right available to you.

Those are stills from a scene you composited yourself? Very nice work, I think they look great!

    'Duping the viewer'

I guess it depends on who you ask. Of course it's OK, but your audience might not like it. The allure of a mystery is that the audience wants to be involved in solving it. Take that away and they may feel cheated out of their experience.

dialogue How can I convey this, without dialogue?

I don't mean to stray from the subject here, but have you done any research at all into police procedure or trial law?
