Attracting Financial Backing using a Trailer

Oh, wow. Great. I didn't know Never Back Down got financed like that. I saw that. It sucked big time. Extra Cheese. But that's still pretty cool! I'll have to check out the DVD i'd been keen to see that trailer.

How can I get paid to film?

yeah, i guess you can freelance on websites creating stock video footage or something. i don't know much about that and doubt you'll have much luck with just a camcorder. but, good luck regardless.

archived-videos "Low Budget" a comedy about indie filmmaking

Thought it might be encouraging to know that you're film somehow found it's way to my path last week on twitter or some other social networking site, a click over and watched the videos and enjoyed it very much. So if nothing else, that kind of exposure and initiative on a larger scale is bound...

Why do you think the festivals weren't into this?

Great film mate. Good to see great short films like that coming out of my home town. I know the struggle. I'd say internationally, it's mostly a case of people not wanting to see australian films. Especially one's that make them think. The only thing we seem to be able to export is the odd genre...

Attracting Financial Backing using a Trailer

Now, i know many filmmakers have done this before, but i couldn't find much information online on the success rate. The plan is, for my next film, to write a smashingly good script (horror/exploitation) and shoot a kickass high production value trailer, and set up great, professional looking...

    editing Help! Problems!

okay, i've got a few things to get sorted for a film i've been working on, and i thought, INDIETALK WILL HAVE THE ANSWERS. i shot some footage a while back on a borrowed consumer minidv. now, i need to log those tapes, but on my higher end camera the footage is coming up all strange with...

    music video format?

i've made music videos before, but never ones that were intended to be sent to television. now, i know this might be a matter of preference, but i thought i'd check on what the industry prefers in this case. music video, 16:9 or 4:3? does it matter? will tv stations ask for it in 4:3?

    WATCHMEN!

there are no scenes on the moon. there are some scenes on mars though.

    Best Special Effects Software

The best possible way, in my opinion, is to have this person loose the amount of weight needed to make the scene work (in a safe and informed manner, mind you). Why do something with 'special effects' if you can do it better without?

Nice. Keep us posted when the whole thing is ready for my peepers.

    archived-videos Action Short Film

Not bad. I really enjoyed the camera movement in the action scenes. I just wonder why you titled it in such a 'spammy' way. If it's to get hits from people who are looking for fishing/poaching affairs, you've tricked them. They won't wanna watch it after a couple of minutes. And if you want...

    archived-videos Darius Goes West

Looks good. I get wary about films about illness and it's adversities, because they so easily pull at the heartstrings and so often tread very similar ground, but this looks quite good.

archived-videos My first short film, take a look.

The ending made my heart skip a beat, quite literally. That is a very nice little film. Maybe you can do something about the contrast in the b&w, at the moment it looks a little soft, and sorry to say, bland. But it's a nice length. Good effort for a first film. Good work.

    WATCHMEN!

Fox are now pushing for a June court date i hear, which would push the film back quite a bit.

    WATCHMEN!

Don't get too excited about seeing the film too soon. After WB finished shooting, Fox came up with a legal injunction against the film, claiming having already owned an option on it that was not yet expired. This kind of thing happens, Fox more than likely sat back and kept quiet while WB...

    Thanks, buddy.

A bit confused with regards to 16mm cameras.

From what i've heard, Kevin Smith did not have a very quiet motor, and during the production of Clerks worked around this problem by having several leather jackets wrapped around the camera to reduce the noise. now THAT'S indie!

Real Indie Film - The Comeback

Haha. Nice. I also am making a REAL indie. My first feature. Extremely low-budget. With a two-man crew. I think 'indie' is something that can really mean something again. There's some films coming out soon that have 'REAL INDIE CRED'... such as 'In Search of a Midnight Kiss', etc.

    New Here, Just Saying Hi

Welcome, mate. Didn't wanna start a new thread, but i just wanted to say... 'Hey guys!' I used to post here every now and then back in the day. Some of you might remember me. Anyway, i'm looking to start posting here again. I'm a little more active filmmaker nowadays and could really use a...
