Just rewatched The Dead Next Door, simply because it was shot on Super8 and I'm itching to do some small film work. It's watchable, and fun in parts, but it feels a little long, even though it's only 78 minutes.

Sounds to me (without seeing the footage) that unless you have a pro AE user, the shot is going to suck anyways. If someone said that to me I'd say it's probably going to suck, and I'm pretty nifty in AE. That's not me saying that your movie is going to suck, I'm talking about that one shot...

Or since it's your first short film, you could edit it yourself? Put an ad out on these boards for a volunteer editor and a visual effects supervisor, stress unpaid, and see what you come up with. I wouldn't close your doors to a first time editor though.
