what video games could make great movies?

Mortal Kombat is all round bad ass in my book. I love it. It WAS the game! So cool. I recon it's the best movie based on a video game. Too bad the sequel ruined it. Notice I never said it was a good movie though ;) The Legend of Zelda will always be in my mind as something that would make an...

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

Just rewatched The Dead Next Door, simply because it was shot on Super8 and I'm itching to do some small film work. It's watchable, and fun in parts, but it feels a little long, even though it's only 78 minutes.

Should I invest in the RED scarlet?

    Very good advice.

Bell & Howell 8mm film Cameras

They run two completely different cartridges. One is definitely Super 8, as it says on the camera. It didn't come with a cartridge. The other came with a cartridge that won't fit in the Super 8, not even close, you can open the cartridge and see where you feed it around, and it lets you flip it...

    cliche movie posters

I do a similar thing when I'm bored in a video store. They always seem to appreciate it.

    archived-videos New Independent Slasher Flick!

Looks like the kind of thing I would watch. One thing I would recommend though is to take the music down a level. It's a bit too loud over the dialogue. When you get around to a DVD, let me know.

Bell & Howell 8mm film Cameras

I just scored two Bell & Howell film cameras dirt cheap. One is a Bell & Howell Duolex-S 8mm, and the other is a Bell & Howell Director Series Filmosonic Model 1224 Super8mm camera. I really know nothing about these items. It looks like they both take cartridges. The Duolex-S came with a...

How do you feel about American remakes of foreign films?

I couldn't care less if something is an "american" remake. What people should really care about is whether it's a good movie or not.

    Terrible situation

The crap this is that I did audition this guy, he wasn't amazing in the audition, but he was fine. I was chatting to a guy today who knows him, apparently he's pretty into drugs.

    Terrible situation

I would've loved to do that and if it was anything else, I would've. But 1) The entire movie is about his last day before execution. 2) I'm under contract to follow the script. He's just cancelled on me for todays filming. So it's over. Looks like I'm going to have to reschedule until I find...

    Terrible situation

After running through it with him all day, I've learned his lines. I just performed them in a mirror and nailed it. So that annoys me even more. Also, I tried having the lines written there for him, and also feeding them to him offscreen with no good results.

    Terrible situation

So today was the second day of shooting my feature film. Yesterday, the lead had learned the wrong lines, so I put his poor performance off to not being prepared. I made sure that he knew what pages we were doing for day 2. So this morning I have a quick run through with the lead and another...

Would you take this film school offer?

If you get into a good one (USC, UCLA) go for it. If not, I wouldn't waste my time with filmschool.

Are PCs really that bad for movie making?

I love my mac, best god damn thing I did was buy a mac. But is it necessary? No. The movie Undead had the post production done on (from memory) 7 PC's, all running windows. Sure, the failure rate was terrible, but they were dealing with massive feature film files. Here's the thing though...

editing Advice on finding a good editor.

Sounds to me (without seeing the footage) that unless you have a pro AE user, the shot is going to suck anyways. If someone said that to me I'd say it's probably going to suck, and I'm pretty nifty in AE. That's not me saying that your movie is going to suck, I'm talking about that one shot...

    Who's got a feature film?

Curious, and by all means feel no need to reply, but in terms of "Sold loads of "pre-official release" DVDs via website, social media and in-person hawking!" How many is loads? 20 dvds? 200 dvds?

editing Advice on finding a good editor.

I'm assuming this is the same short that wer're discussing in another thread about th eproblems you've been having on set. Off topic, what's the title of the film? Just so that when I think about it it isn't harmonic44's short film, it's *enter title*

editing Advice on finding a good editor.

Or since it's your first short film, you could edit it yourself? Put an ad out on these boards for a volunteer editor and a visual effects supervisor, stress unpaid, and see what you come up with. I wouldn't close your doors to a first time editor though.
