    Fake walls?

If you have some money to spare, try finding a local vacuum-form shop - we're using the one in Pinewood Film Studios for our feature and a 7' x 5' panel costs £13 + VAT - we're ordering a whole bunch of 'em :) http://www.hoopershomes.com/bracketmedia/vacformshop/index.htm This stuff looks...

    Sony VG10 moiré

MegaPixels is a moot point when it comes to video comparisons for the T2i/5d/VG10 - all of them output still images way in excess of 1080p - all of them are throwing away pixels to create a 1080p image - the only difference in quality will be down to how they do that - sadly, none of these...

    lighting tungsten and fluorescent lighting

Tungsten is lightbulbs, fluorescent is tube lighting - brightness can be measured in Kelvin or as a temperature - fluorescent tubes are cool to the touch whereas tungsten bulbs get hot - the temperature of the light affects the colour of the light emitted - because of the ways our eyes work...

    Green screen/white screen/red...

Green and Blue are most commonly used for ChromaKeying - why? 'Cause keying those colours out doesn't interfere with fleshtones - after all, you don't want to key out your background and lose a big chunk of your talent's face :)

I don't wanna jinx myself, but...

Nice one CF! I'm meeting up with a girl group on Sunday to discuss the music for my film - they're (hopefully) going to provide three vocal tracks (1930's, 1950's, contemporary) and 6 instrumental pieces - they're going to be singing in a scene in the film too (1930's night club). AntiHero...

    5d Mark II vs 1/2" & 2/3" sensor cameras.

Because detail is being thrown away before you've even got the footage into your editing software. Consumer solutions typically use aggressive compression to reduce file sizes - if you want to display your material on a big screen, the less compression in the source footage the better - heavily...

    A question about Directing....

I wish! I'm adapting Lovecraft at the moment and it's hard - very hard - so hard in fact that in my opinion, nobody's done a satisfactory job of it so far (that's why we're having a go). The truth is, books are very different beasts to film - they follow their own rules that don't necessarily...

    What's your dayjob?

CG VFX Artist for the past 16 years - currently freelancing for an architectural visualisation company - my background certainly helps with post-production :)

First feature, a little worried about money

We're shooting four 20-30 minute films, each with a different cast - hence the split in the rehearsals - when it's all assembled it'll make a 110 minute feature :)

    Sony VG10 moiré

I've got one on pre-order. Whilst the moire is a cause for concern, that really is a worst-case scenario. The 'Beautiful Bali' Sony footage looks good though and I like the camcorder form-factor. Supposedly the HDMI out is uncompressed which means you can pipe it to a Black Magic or NanoFlash...

First feature, a little worried about money

Yep - a 12 day shoot is certainly doable - the key (as always) is in the planning. We're doing something similar on our feature but it's broken up over 18 days: 3 days on 2 off 3 on 2 off 4 on 2 off 2 on Plus 3 days for recording V/O The off days will be used for set modifications/redressing...

    NEED ACTORS

Another vote here for mandy.com - I've used them in the past and gotten good results - actors pay to put their resumes on there so productions get to use it for free - got over 100 responses to my last casting call.

    Copyright of websites?

Well firstly, copyright exists in most (all?) original written material (even this post :)) so there's potential copyright issues - secondly, things like logos (for example, the way Google writes 'Google') are frequently trademarks (registered or otherwise) and you need permission to reproduce...

    Taking a books concept

Nope - that's like making your own Batman movie and trying to sell it without the rights. If you're interested in adapting Stephen King you could take a look at the 'Dollar Babies' scheme he runs.

lighting How would you create lightning?

Yeah - I'm thinking it'll run something like this: Buy some standard house lamps (plug-in types) and mount them/wire them up to look like wall lamps - they'll be hooked up to a dimmer and plugged into regular extension leads. The set interior will be isolated from the rest of the stage with...
