    Is this scene too dark?

Fight Club began pretty similarly, and that did alright. (note: can't remember if that scene happens in the film, but it does in the book).

Getting paid once Film Investment confrimed

If your primary concern is getting it made, I'd personally ask for enough to cover whatever I'd be earning in a 'day job,' so I can finish it without going broke/homeless and be in a position to start working on my next project.

Just noticed this. My favourite Wiseman film is High School, which came out only a year after Titicut. You should check it out :)

Indietalk Album of the Year 2014

My list Run the Jewels - Run the Jewels 2 I liked their debut album last year, but when I saw them live early this year I became a full fledged fan. There was something oddly charismatic about 2 dudes dressed in jean shorts rapping about pulling a pistol on a poodle. Despite being huge and a...

Indietalk Album of the Year 2014

Due to this being a film forum and one with relatively few (for the internet) regular contributors, this might not work due to there not being enough responses/enough of a cohesive music taste amongst members... but may as well give it a shot. I find these kinds of threads a good way to catch up...

    archived-videos The Magic Circle

Yeah, the actors do a really good job. I was struggling with the douche character (Kris I think?) who through most of the first two episodes seems to only be there to provide conflict. But I liked the little bit at the end which kind of showed another side to his character, giving him more...

    Star Wars Ep 7 trailer.

Does it? Spoofs with any blockbuster franchise are innevitable. The one I saw (linked earlier in the thread) males fun of George Lucas. If you read anything into that it suggests a joy that Lucas isn't directing (and hence some form of approval for the teaser). Besides any blockbuster...

story Can I get in trouble if my story is like another show?

Maybe? I don't really watch these kinds of shows. Is it the track part that is similar to the anime? Or the running itself? If the former, you could always make it a different form of running (e.g. cross country). Tbh, I wouldn't worry about that specific detail so much. It's a cliche in so...

    Unstuck Production Diary

Production Diary #7 - Final Day of Shooting Production Diary #7 - Final Day of Shooting By the end of shooting, starting the day badly had almost become tradition on set.I had to speed home as I’d managed to forget the CF cards for the camera. Thankfully, having had a couple of days off prior...

story Can I get in trouble if my story is like another show?

It doesn't seem like it'd be an issue. But if you're concerned, I don't see why the track thing can't change. The fact that it's track doesn't seem pivotal to the story - track is just a vehicle for conflict and competition between characters. That could be filled by any competition (e.g...

    Vimeo Song Copyright

It'd probably be best to get in touch with Vimeo's customer support, as I would think this is a situation they've encountered and resolved before.

Important question! Can you send your film into festival review with any music ?

You never said anything about distributors. But you should go for it. Use that line of reasoning with festivals and distros and see where it gets you. Maybe it'll even work. Question: Why do you start multiple threads asking questions to then ignore the answers you dislike?

    Home Made Audio Recording Booth

Recorded this morning, didn't have the time to go buy materials. Sounds surprisingly "good" (to my ears). Biggest flaw was not having a pop filter. When the actor stood as close to the mic as he did in the studio, we got a few breathy "pop's." Had to compromise by moving him slightly away, which...

Important question! Can you send your film into festival review with any music ?

So how will you afford it if you get in? Why would they accept your film if you can't guarantee you will have the rights? If they do accept you on the premise that you'll buy the rights, and then you can't do that (maybe the artist won't even sell you the rights), it's been a waste of their time...

    Home Made Audio Recording Booth

Thanks Alcove! No padding unfortunately, but I do have access to lots of blankets and duvets. What should the general configuration of the space be? As much of the walls covered by blankets, all noises removed, something 'shielding' mic (as in 2nd pic)?

    Home Made Audio Recording Booth

Firstly, how odd that this forum doesn't have a dedicated audio section? Anyway, I was recording some narration yesterday in my local uni's sound studio. Apparently one of the important files became corrupted, and we can't get back into the studio for a couple of weeks. For a festival...

    rewatch value

My favourite films aren't usually the ones I want to rewatch. I tend to like quite heavy films, the kind that are quite hard to get through, which doesn't make for a fun rewatching experience. In fact, I don't really rewatch films, but when I do, I tend to go for films that entertain me. I've...

How long is reasonable for actors to memorize their lines?

I don't expect my actors to memorise their lines. I expect them to be very familiar with the script, but outside big dialogue scenes (which don't really exist in my films anyway) I'd rather they memorised the line of the day. The reason for that is that if they are memorising lines, actions...
