So far getting closer to production the costs have dropped considerably so at this point we are able to pay everyone at least minimum wage ($9.75). But that didn't skirt the issue of being underage--and traveling out of state for the part. But i'm quite confused as to how this all can work...

Do you put ads on Craigslist? If so what do you say? Do you have success on getting extras for free, or do you pay them say minimum wage? How early do you put the call out? What other sites or places to put the call out? If paying, do you treat them as employees(non union) and withhold taxes, or...

Okay great. The parents are 100% supportive. But I know how parents are when they want a child to pursue film. I feel like I have to look out for the best interest of the child and the production--oddly enough parents usually look out more for the production. I cant take advantage of people.

To answer your question, if you have a dslr and want something to look decent purchase a glidecam or a chinese knockoff from CAME, and get a slider. Learn to use those two and you'll be a videographer in no time. But then you'll realize that light is important.
