shooting-film Just bought Canon 814 Super 8! Am I nuts? Some advice please.

That's a bummer. I was hoping that since they were actually designed for sound, that their shutters would be a little bit more precise...oh well...

shooting-film Just bought Canon 814 Super 8! Am I nuts? Some advice please.

Yeah and even worse, they don't seem to be interchangable with different cameras...better make sure you have one that's worth the investment first, then... And speaking of the crystal sync, do cameras that were originally designed to shoot sound film need such a device, or do they get along...

That would be nice to have, but they sure aren't cheap...unless I'm looking in the wrong places...

shooting-film Just bought Canon 814 Super 8! Am I nuts? Some advice please.

I've heard talk of anamorphic lenses for super 8 cameras. Assuming that you can find one, that it fits the Canon 814, or that the Canon has detachable lenses at all, how much more practical would this be? EDIT: Oops, I guess I wasn't reading as carefully as I should have been...sorry...

What music do you listen to?

Ah, the old CCM scene! Project 86 used to be a favorite of mine back in the day. I still listen to Stavesacre. Great stuff.

Did you ever get into Babylon 5? I know Christopher Franke has released a ton of B5 soundtracks.

What music do you listen to?

I'll chime in. A lot of film scores: Jerry Goldsmith, Elliot Goldenthal, Wojciech Kilar, Edward Shearmur, Miklos Rozsa, Basil Poledouris, Graeme Revell, Patrick Doyle, etc. etc. and '70's progressive rock: Gentle Giant, Yes, Jethro Tull, Van der Graaf Generator, Caravan, Camel, King Crimson...

    favorite What's your favorite scene???

No, I'd say you're right. According to Herzog's commentary, the monkeys were all caught in the wild. Here's a bit more of the scene. I wish it had English subtitles, because it's an amazing monologue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bO8H01i2Low&feature=related Not that I'm intentionally...

    shooting-film Super-8 Film

I've always wondered how customizable super 8 cameras were. I've heard of some having an automatic shutter, but how common was that? I guess I was under the impression that most of them had one fixed shutter speed. Were there any that had adjustable shutter speeds?

    favorite What's your favorite scene???

It's tame, is what it is. Especially considering the antics Klaus Kinski was known for (onscreen, and off).

    favorite What's your favorite scene???

Too many scenes to count, from too many flims. From Aguirre, der Zorn Gottes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQYKDrOs_j8 I wish I could also find a clip online of the scene in Fitzcarraldo, where Kinski throws a cat. Oh well...
