    nudity.

so my film calls for nudity of both male and female characters. I've been digging around online and I can't find nada that actually answers my question: How do I approach it? How do I make them feel comfortable about it? Is it Legal? or does it require special paperwork? I'm almost ready to...

    books??

$30 Film School 24P: making your movies look like Hollywood Robert Rodriguez's Rebel without a crew (something like that) DV Rebels Guide by Stu Maschwitz I'd say any book you get your hands on is a pretty good starting point, what are you mainly trying to Learn? aesthetics? cinematography...

Graphics tablets - anyone use them?

pressure sensitivity, drawing space, customizable buttons and express keys. some come with a mouse and spare nibs and a cool little holder for the pen. if you can afford it and want to jump right in then grab an Intuos 3 or 4, Intuos4 is highly regarded as the one of choice, second only to the...

Graphics tablets - anyone use them?

I use bamboo splash for illustration and graphics design. I love it though I'd recommend the Intuos line from Wacom. start with something small to see if it's what you really what you want. good luck!

editing Film Coloring - by scene or entire film?

nicksys is pretty spot on. lock in your scenes, get them corrected and balanced then go for the overall look. I use After Effects, I use an adjustment layer to house my "look" and then I animate the parameters to make each piece of the film consistent and balanced. what software are you using?

so.. . what are some good places/sites for casting actors?

I've used casting360 in the past and got hordes of replies from people who had no clue and did not fit the parts. I'm looking for something I can take seriously.

editing Better to not use a flat color profile in this case?

yea, that's what my film teachers hammered into our heads ALWAYS UNDER EXPOSE, NEVER OVER EXPOSE. you can bring some of those details back if it's under, but if it's over then all of those details are lost and washed out

editing Better to not use a flat color profile in this case?

you turn down the sharpness to emulate Film Look. Film is very soft and creamy with bloomy highlights. Zero Sharpness would give you something to that effect, you still have to play with it and experiment to truly bring out the Film Look.

cinematography Found Footage Camera turbulance... how should I?

finally hammered down my decision to do a horror movie in the Found footage Film style. I just have one question: How do I safely drop my camera or get turbulence and camera rolls (i.e. the scene in Paranormal Activity where the camera drops and rolls to face the action when the lady got her...

Least expensive way to record audio input?

awesome info! been making music and doing audio production for 12 years and run a pretty decent studio. just never really thought to use a dynamic mic in my arsenal until some buddies told me it'd be worth checking out.

    sound My short film sound

guess I got lucky, my background is audio heavy. One of my film teachers let us use Hollywood Edge, she let us take what we wanted from it for our own personal sound libraries at home. Hollywood Edge Is NOT cheap by any means. great stuff but it's been used to death! what I would suggest, is...

Least expensive way to record audio input?

great thread to the OP and great advice and info from all of you. just solved my issue! I know I'm going to be getting the AT897 without a doubt, I just couldn't decide between the H4N or the DR-40. even the DR-100 looks nice, but it seems the DR-40 is a filmmaker favorite. just one question...

archived-videos Why is everybody making Horror films?

exactly what I was thinking when I saw the thread subject. working on one right now! Asian Horror flicks are so cerebral! they use psychology to the letter. VHS and S-VHS are two of my favorite horror films from America right now.

Would such a thing be possible?

I agree and I don't agree, same as with what Directorik said. It's just a suggestion, in the end it's OP's choice. I say do what feels right. Working with others is always a better approach than playing the lone wolf.
