Protools is the standard but I personally love Nuendo. Its much more intuitive than PT. You will get the same results with both packages depending on your skill level. If you need to share your project files, PTwill be easier. Use whichever fits into your production pipeline.

Just shoot her with her hand out and just comp in the planet effect. I dont see the need to paint anything to key it out, its a simple effect.

You should be able to operate the lens with all its manual functions with the adapter. I use Canon lenses and the adapter will control the aperture (smoothly, no clicks) and the ring on the lens (click) works as well.... Results may vary.

What are you aiming the camera at when you set the custom white balance? It needs to be neutral or it will balance towards the opposite color. Try using a grey card.

Theres a studio somewhere that has a nice spaceship set that you can rent...... Ill have to dig it up. Tubetape.com has a virtual space ship interior DVD set available for cheap.

I have a GH2 and I dont have any regrets. That and a 50mm prime will get you started and give you great results. Hit ebay for a canon FD mount lens and adapter (less than $100).

I would get more ram.... The most you can afford. That will make a difference while previewing your footage in you NLE. The i5 will work fine.

If your sculpting it in Zbrush you will want to UV map it before you sculpt it usually. You can get more predictable results/seams that way.
