Question on the 16:9 mode on the dvx 100a

So does that mean that in squeeze mode you can show it on either widescreen tv's or 4:3 and it will appear normal with no stretching? Wouldn't the squeeze mode have a lower resolution? Vinnyd, you should also consider the 16:9 widescreen adaptor lense avaliable for the dvx.

    Filming Rights for news programs

I often see footage on the news and current affair programs of ordinary people being used to demonstrate a point such as a close up of an obese woman eating a hamburger walking in a busy street. While the news item may be about the horrors of fast food, I think to myself "what rights do the...

    Ultra Right-Wing Christian Films!

I am not religious and I find it annoying when religious people try to convert me. I strongly oppose any form of religion but that's beside the point. If I want to learn about a religion, which most people would say is a personal thing, I would take that mission upon myself in my own time. I...

Part of Clown car let me know what you think

TP could catch on fire considering the tip of a cigarette can be up to 600 degrees C, but chances are nothing would happen if it just stroked the paper. Maybe if you used a lighter instead you could make it look more realistic.

Limited Budget which camera should I get?

I'll back this up. I have a dodgy 1ccd camera and going from imovie to Final Cut Express was a massive improvement. Even if your dvd's are basic and don't require complicated edits, imovie is way out of league in all areas, even the compression quality to dvd is compromised when using imovie. If...

Part of Clown car let me know what you think

Dropping the flashlight into the car an drunt biting him would be more original but i guess it's up to you whether that's what you want to do. It would definetly suit the style you have created for the film.

Part of Clown car let me know what you think

Surely a flashlight is not the only way of convincing an audience that an officer is doing a thorough job. If I were to direct a movie with a police officer searching a car, I would try to make it original, and if I could pull it off without the audience saying "where was the torch?", then that...

What's the cheapest camera that can do decent slomo?

You're right, my mistake  . What high end digital video software creates linking frames? I've never heard of such a thing! Sounds like a good idea if it works.

Part of Clown car let me know what you think

How ironic that Devin tells the clowns to keep it clean after he powders his nose:). As I said, I am not a writer but I can only go by my experience and feelings towards the script. My understanding of a clichè has nothing to do with reality, but whether an idea is overused. In reality cops...

    lighting Is This Just Light?

I'm sure having great skin like that would also make the job easier. Is it usual to over-expose her jambles like that?

Part of Clown car let me know what you think

Scriptwriting isn't a strenght of mine so I can't be too critical but i found some parts rather clichè, particuarly the cop using his flashlight to search the car. I did laugh at the drinking part "12, i mean 9. I had 8."

    Indietalk Merchandise?

I agree with Spatula, Fedora's all the way. Maybe the hat could be made out of scrap film.

What's the cheapest camera that can do decent slomo?

I don't know much about film cameras and prices but I think most film cameras can be undercranked. Slow motion is produced by under cranking a film camera (not digital), which reduces the frame rate and adjusts the shutter speed to suit the chosen frame rate. Slow motion can be done in nle...

sound Typical payment for song clips?

That's good news for me but not for Boz Uriel :(. So I guess the only problem with someone whistling a 70s song is that the song isn't in public domain yet.

sound Typical payment for song clips?

Ahh the joys of copyright. I understand that you can't use a current artists song without permission, but is it legal to use a full length Beethoven song in a film if a person records their own copy of the song and gives you the rights?

I've heard the crazy dolly zoom or Vertigo effect called many different names. One name i've heard of recently is the 'trombone shot'.
