    Donate!

It's a nice idea, donation, but I think you could do better by actually describing what you are filming (title, plot, length, format, actors/crew, etc). If I have no idea what your project entails, why should I donate to it? You'd probably get a better response if you shared more about the...

    Fuck Gus Van Sant

Exactly. I certainly hope the original post wasn't serious. If so, he wasn't a serious filmmaker in the first place... - Mike.

    Dramatic Structure - beliefs...?

It really depends on a number of things, but if you plan on submitting this script to an agent or producer, you really do need to follow the 10-page rule. It is because these people hire readers to dig through the garbage for them... these readers have a lot of material to go through in a day...

    archived-videos Enter the "CrossWalk"

It came off that they were intentionally overdrawn, but for me it just didn't work. For me to take the satire of the film serious, it's got to be grounded in reality. That being said, I liked the film, just thought it could have been even better had the characters not been characitures (sp?)...

    IndieTalk Film Festival?

Since we're giving away lollipops... Can I have 8 million lollipops? That way I could sell them for 25 cents a piece and have a $2 million budget for my next film... - Mike.

    archived-videos Enter the "CrossWalk"

Pretty funny. The only thing I really didn't care for was the characters' dialogue. Seemed too overboard to make the characters real. The situations were funny, good satire of action films... - Mike.

    archived-videos Short NYC Film Trailer

I liked the visuals, however, if it is supposed to be a teaser, it's just too long. Teasers should be short, short. This just seemed to meander without telling me anything about the story. - Mike.

I'm a bit new to the World of Film

Re: LOC = SAH (slow as hell) Many agents and producers require you to register your script with the WGA. It's accepted pretty much industry wide. It's much quicker than getting a registered copyright, as well. Register with the WGA. - Mike.

    IndieTalk screenwriting contest?

If there was a contest, I personally would like it to be nothing like PGL or Trigger Street. I'd rather have it be a standard screenplay contest, judged by experienced indie filmmakers, who would give coverage of your script no matter where you finished. I hate paying good $$$ just to get a...

    looking for a title.....

??? This baffles me. Hey, I need a title for my film. It's about a guy who does some stuff. Thanks. #-o - Mike.

archived-videos Short 3min Film now online

I liked the camera work in your short and the mood of it worked very well. I felt the story was lacking, though. I was waiting for a punchline, I guess, but it just seemed a let down at the end. I guess the final scene is what doesn't work for me. The rest was quite well done, especially the...

I need some movies to watch!

I'm sorry, I just don't get the appeal of Boondock Saints. To me it is very poorly acted (way over the top) and the camera direction is way too Tarantino-wannabe for me, very derivative. But I have to say again, the acting really sucks. I blame the director for letting his actors go too far over...

    archived-videos Updated Trailer

Wow! That's a LOT better than your original one, in my opinion. This version really works for me, it flows so much better and is a lot more exciting. Excellent work... you have me hooked. - Mike.

archived-videos New Film "The Killing Hand"

Yeah, I understand having a "dark texture" as you say, but some scenes it was basically black and I had no clue what was going on. It could just be my monitor or the transition to a quicktime file, but I couldn't see ANYTHING in some of the scenes... - Mike.

archived-videos New Film "The Killing Hand"

Looks interesting, however, most of the trailer is just too dark for me to see what is going on. Is this due to the quicktime file, or is the film that dark? That'd be a little frustrating...

    archived-videos Website, Trailer, and Question

Cool website. The trailer played fine for me, it started immediately. I've actually worked with a lot of your actors. Melissa DaPonte was in my first short film I ever directed, I've worked with Steve Warren on a ton of stuff and April Billingsley was in our short for the 48 Hour Film Project...

    Requested info on getting started

I know this sounds nit-picky, but I hope your script doesn't read like your post. The reason I say this is how can a reader take your script seriously if you don't understand the difference between plural and possesive? I'm sure you do, but I see a lot of plurals that are spelled as if they were...

    ROOM SERVICE short

This seems like a set up for something longer. As it stands right now, the end is just too abrupt.

action Script length, time, and action.

film8ker, I just briefly glanced at your script and I can already tell you that you can significantly lengthen (and strengthen) your script by splitting up your action into much shorter paragraphs. If you do that, you will easily reach 90 pages. Some of your dialogue should be broken up, too...
