    Could everyone cross their fingers

I got a lot of built-up good karma. I'll project some across the Atlantic to you :) Good luck!

First short, quirky comedy, notes anyone?

HAHA, that was really good... every man's plight  A few minor things: While he's getting her drunk, she mentions that she can't have sex for a "few days" because it's that time of the month, and he reacts like he didn't realize. But, maybe he did realize... maybe have a shot of him in...

    Finally got a camera!

Actually, this Sunday (Feb 26) is going to be my first day of shooting. It has taken me this long to finish the script and, more importantly, to organize the actors, the make-up artist, and the crew. But, the film is finally set to roll! I did shoot one roll of test footage a few weeks ago...

I don't think anyone was out to prove any point. Just trying to have a little fun. You didn't participate in the fun according to the rules he stated, and when called on it, you acted like a baby. Now, because you are still feeling slighted, you're back to derail the thread. Nice going.

    archived-videos Static - full film

Nice work! Good use of camera angles and lighting. And a GREAT location! Very well done overall. A few nitpicks: I also felt the pace was a bit slow throughout. Taking time to build suspense is important, but if the entire film is so slow, then it takes away from the moments where the slowness...

    NetFlix and "throttling"

There was a settlement originally that basically gave current subscribers a free upgrade for a month... and would have paid 2.5 million dollars to the lawyers. Luckily, some people raised hell about it and the deal was nixed by the judge. Damn greedy lawyers... gonna give their profession a...

    NetFlix and "throttling"

It's interesting that even though a lot of people know about throttling, they are still satisfied with the service overall. Even if I only watch 5 movies in a month, I'm still saving money vs. the rental store (not to mention the hassle of driving there and back, late fees, etc....) and I...

Horror vs. Thriller: What's the difference?

I dunno. Look at one of the most famous of horror movies: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. That had nothing supernatural in it. In fact, the realism of it made it seem even more horror-ish.

    Overnight! OMG!!!

The saddest part of that docu was at the end when they took apart the bar Sloans. That place used to be a regular hang-out for me and my friends :( In Troy Duffy's defense, he was always a bit full of himself, even when he was pouring drinks for a living.

Wow, sounds like you scored a great deal then. Did you hear about the apartment or did you just get lucky? If another such apartment should come up in your building, please let me know!

Huh? Did you sublet the apartment from another person or something? Because, as i understand it, rent control only allows a landlord to be able to raise rents no more than a few percent a year on current tenants... but, once an apartment becomes vacant, the landlords can up the rent to whatever...

Traffic. Unless you want a looong commute, it's best to be in LA if you're going to be working/hanging out here. As it is, if you wanted to get from one side of LA to another (say downtown LA to Santa Monica) you're looking at an hour of driving easy.

You might want to also check out http://www.mdrents.com/rental_list.html. They are a management company and they list a lot of apartments for rent. I just glanced at their list and see that they have two 3 bedroom apartments listed, both under $2000.

The San Fernando valley in general is about 10-20% cheaper on rent, but the nice areas such as Encino, Sherman Oaks, etc are getting much more expensive. Check out areas like Studio City, Reseda, Northridge, Van Nuys, North Hollywood and, if you're really feeling brave, Panorama City. If you...
