I just worked on a short that used a clip from the public domain film "Detour". Honestly, there's a ton of stuff that might be worth checking out. Also, GuerillaAngel, I tend to disagree with you on that point. See: Every French new wave film ever.

hamlet 2: A goofball comedy with a cliche story and a weak ending. It was pretty funny at times, though. 4/10

P.T. Anderson's "The Master" This is one I've seen before, but it's sooo good. Honestly, I think that Freddy Quell is the best character that Anderson has ever written (Yeah, that includes Daniel Plainview), 9/10

To be fair, general audiences aren't particularly discriminative when it comes to movies. Also, the man from nowhere is a great movie, but not really remotely comparable to something like Brazil.

To each their own, but brazil is in my top ten films of all time. Robert Deniro wasn't in very much, but that's not really a problem with the film, just the way it was marketed. I didn't find it boring in the slightest, or too long. That's like saying 2001 is too slow -- it's not a fast paced...

I'm not talking about a merging of A and B stories. Often, when the character leaves the group, said group is scarcely mentioned until the reunion happens. And, most of the film usually has the protagonist with the group. It's not until perhaps the last quarter of the movie that they break...

For starters, I'm not trying to criticize Paul. I actually think he's the best writer/director working today. But there's something that I noticed he does a lot. It involves the way he concludes his films. Generally, the main character reunites with another character or group towards the end...

I can never come up with titles. I start out with a crappy script, which repeatedly gets re-written until it's not crappy (and usually much more complex)

Hi. I was wondering if it's at all easy to integrate the sound from multiple (types?) of audio recorders. Like, if I record room noise on something like the zoom (is there a word for those sorts of devices?), then do dialogue on a boom, will I easily be able to seamlessly put both of those...
