Idea for car audio, not sure if feasible, but would like thoughts.

Some of you know that I'm planning on shooting a scene in a car pretty soon. I've decided on shooting the whole thing practically which means that I might have trouble with audio. One solution that I've considered is this: Lining the roof of the car above the actor's heads with...

Assembling a feature from a series of shorts?

Pulp Fiction didn't immediately come to mind, but I see what you mean. Good movie. 4 rooms is also an example, but with the exception of the Robert Rodiguez segment, I fucking hated that movie. Might you be thinking of Vivre sa Vie or Paris, Je T'aime? Both come to mind. Good thing I'm not...

Hey, that's alright. What is criticism for, after all? Especially since I wasn't originally going to post it because I sort of agree. It was an experiment, but perhaps not one that worked out. Regarding ads: I didn't know I had that on. I'm not getting enough views to warrant it, I don't have...

Assembling a feature from a series of shorts?

Yeah, I'll have to check some of those out. Personally, I'm more or less looking at building narrative links rather than thematic between the shorts to make them more coherent as a whole. Big fan of Kurosawa, but I've not seen that one. I'll have to check it out. Me too. I want them to all be...

Does anyone know of Jodorowsky's Dune?

What's wrong with surrealism? What about Lynch, Bunuel, Cronenberg?

Hey everyone. I wasn't originally going to post this, but I recently got some pretty good feedback on it and I wanted to see if that's accurate. It was sort of an experiment, and I can see it alienating some people, but I'll let you be the judge of that...

    Spectre: Discussion

It was okay. I felt like it was sort of rehashing the exact same themes that Skyfall dealt with (00 program is a the edge of obsolescence etc.), but not handling them that well. Christoph Waltz, who is usually brilliant, was a bit of a disappointment, as well. Opening was cool, though.

Assembling a feature from a series of shorts?

I wasn't sure where to put this, so if you think I've made a mistake let me know. At the moment, I lack the resources to put out a full length feature film. However, I do have the resources to put out shorts for next to no money. A while ago, I saw Jim Jarmusch's Coffee and Cigarettes. This...

    cinematography A continuous shot.

One more thing to add: I'm a fan of when the audience isn't aware that a long shot is beingused, as well. The use in Spectre was flashy and overt (and there's not necessarily anything wrong with that), but I'd check out that famous shot from Indiana Jones for an example.

Virtual Reality may be the next big thing.

I think one issue with vr "cinema" is that it lacks the fixed perspective of movies. The way we create emotions now is largely based on forcing the audience to see things through a certain lens at a certain angle and edited at a certain rhythm. This isn't impossible with vr, but I think you...

Shooting a scene in a car without a car rig

Yeah, GoPros aren't really for shooting whole films on. They're fine for the occasional shot, but the barrel distortion plus the videoy look probably won't work out. I'm probably goingntonbe testing some audio setups soon, so we'll see. @harmonica44 Different cameras have different sensor...

    cinematography A continuous shot.

Don't worry, I have a lot to learn too. I think, if done wrong, a long shot can definitely inhibit the portrayal of emotion. You'll have to be creative with framing. Adding a lot of motion (shooting on a movi or steadicam, for instance) might help because you can physically move the camera in...

Shooting a scene in a car without a car rig

@mlesemann: Yeah, I guess that'd be the way to go about it. Probably be tough shooting profile shots of the passenger seat, though, because I can't op camera and drive. I'll do some tests to see if I can get it to work. @sfoster Yeah, that a good idea and I'll probably use it, but I don't...

    cinematography A continuous shot.

While I think editing is of exceptional importance to cinema, I'm a particular fan of when lengthy shots are handled well. I have a few points to bring up in addition to what's above. Some directors are reluctant to cut because of the freedom it gives their actors. Scenes in Jim Jarmusch...

Jesus, fuck off with that, will ya. I know plenty of people from my generation who love to read. Myself included. I also know plenty of older people who don't. And no, I will not get off your lawn.

Shooting a scene in a car without a car rig

@Sweetie I'm looking at reworking the script so that more dialogue takes place in the parked car. Hopefully, I can get to the point that anything while the car is moving is minimal. I've also decided to go for the Subaru because it has more space, even though the honda is more "filmic". I'm...
