Is M42 the most common mount for vintage lenses?

Diving into vintage lenses would give need for a lot of adapters though, am I right? I know a friend of mine has a helios that they got for like $20, I'm definitely thinking about going the vintage lens route....

What do you look for in a lens? I guess I've always been curious... how do you know if a lens is good or not? What are the deciding factors for quality when you choose a lens? I just got an HDSLR after being skeptical of the craze... now I need to learn what needs to accompany it...

I would agree with rayw... A film can look good, be shot with a great camera, have amazing technical aspects, etc... but if the story and the underlying content of the film isn't fully developed or not there, it won't really be all that great.. content>flashy looks

I plan on doing narrative works and freelance videography (which could include live events). So which would be a better first buy in your opinion :huh:
