Why do we care if it was a dream?

The end of Inception really only bothered me because you just know they're setting up for... THE SEQUEL! (jazz hands) -- spinner

Thinking about turning down studio distribution deal...

...well, that was a pretty scorched earth review. You have to learn from this sort of thing. The OP now knows, hopefully, how to handle negotiations better, he does know how to get a distribution deal apparently. Maybe he'll have better luck on his next film... -- spinner

editing What? Is a ISCII code???

No, it's all good. I did it for the heck of it and I thought it came out well. Of course, there are always things I would have liked to have done better, but for my first spot, it didn't suck! It was a zombie commercial for a comic book store and! it aired during the premiere of The Walking...

Why do we care if it was a dream?

It worked in Fight Club. Well, actually, that wasn't a dream so much as it was psychosis, but an interesting take nonetheless. -- spinner

Why do a lot of indie films brag about cheap cameras when sound is more important?

"...yes, but how did it sound?" spinner asked. "There was sound?" Gonzo replied, bewildered.... -- spinner:cool:

    Advice on camcorders

Okay.... I'm going to make some assumptions :) Since you say you are "starting out" and that you need advice on which camcorder would be best. The first thing I think is that you are relatively new at this. (that's not a bad thing) If you have very little money and have never shot anything...

Thinking about turning down studio distribution deal...

Does anyone know how things turned out for this film? I thought it looked good in the trailer (shrug).... -- spinner

Anyone else think modern horror movies are overlit?

I saw Drag Me To Hell. 2 hours of my life I'll never get back. Evil Dead 1, however, love it. The Raimi brothers are legend at Michigan State University. -- spinner

I played 2nd Camera and had no idea what was going on.

@SinEater: You little sh*t! That scenes not supposed to be funny! .....(sniff, sniff)...it's not my fault, it's not my fault.... -- spinner

I played 2nd Camera and had no idea what was going on.

OH, I did EXACTLY that in August. Outwardly, I was cool, inwardly, I was screaming bloody murder. BUT, much to my benefit and to her credit, my DIRECTOR knew exactly what she wanted and for a six day shoot, we were on schedule every day. We were all amazed by that part. It was a really good...

Why do a lot of indie films brag about cheap cameras when sound is more important?

I tell newbies this ALL THE TIME. Go get you a cheap camera from the pawn shop and start shooting! Remember, fuzzy/grainy focus in Hollywood is out of focus, for indies it's "stylized!" -- spinner

Why do a lot of indie films brag about cheap cameras when sound is more important?

What gets me is when they don't talk about what LENS they used on the 7D. I've seen about 3 indie films shot over the last 2 months shot with 7D's. The lenses cost around $1200. That's how you get the best 'film' look. -- spinner

Independence Day was weak in story

Hey! I like my Power....yeah, okay...(slinks back to corner):D Actually, I think you might be overthinking it. So, it wasn't deep. So it was unrealistic. In the movie "Signs" the aliens couldn't get into houses because they physically couldn't turn a doorknob. (shrug). But "Independence Day"...

    Dropping Out: The Documentary

I think you might look into different dropouts in different kinds of schools. Inner city, suburbs, parochials, charter. Do research on the rates of dropouts in those schools. You could talk to guidance counselors. Where I live there is a center for kids who have messed up so much that this...

Anyone else think modern horror movies are overlit?

I agree. I think often gore can be a substitute for a thin story. Hey, nothing wrong with shooting in daylight, the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre was shot in the day. You should check out the film "Session 9". It's a beautiful, blue sky day where all kinds of bad things happen! -- spinner...

$50 per day? Wow, you're rich! About wearing many hats: Over the last 6 weeks I have been a: DP, editor, PA, videographer for my own project, editor for another and all around fill in person. Sh*t, if I was getting paid for all this stuff, I wouldn't be jobhunting right now! :D...

Someone Please Help. I'd greatly appriciate it.

...well,... It's a matter of whether or not you - the writer/director - actually want to run your own camera and be a videographer. If you don't, don't get an expensive camera. (btw: by the time you rent a camera for the amount of time you will probably need it for, you could have purchased the...
