    Filmmaking while on Vacation

I might be crazy... but I'm looking at taking a 3-4 week vacation (likely somewhere(s) in Europe) and I'm thinking to myself "Wouldn't it be Cool to Make a Movie while travelling?" Now I'm travelling solo but will likely for at least part of the trip be in a tour like Contiki as that reduces my...

Writing targeted at No-Budget Indie Filmmakers

Perhaps I was a bit to vague... It was a post telling you about the "evevator pictches" which I though would be an interesting thing for writers to watch. Then I added my personal critic which was that many of the stories required elements that are hard to get your hands on without doling out...

Should I audition actors in this case?

Well, I teamed up with other filmmakers for a "core" group and two of them can act (or at least stand in front of a camera and delivery lines, j/k they can act) so when an actor bales either one of two things happens... One of the Crew replaces them. Their character suddenly dies. I've had it...

Writing targeted at No-Budget Indie Filmmakers

Here is a Nice resource: http://www.digi60.org/whats-going-on/ What it is - a video taping of 8 local screenwriters who are pitching short (8mins) stories to a room of filmmakers as part of a contest. Each story contains a "catch", something that must be in the film. This year is a "Passionate...

    Teaming Up

Something I would suggest doing that I don't hear a lot of people talk about - building your crew. I started last year making some shorts and test shoots trying to get into filmmaking and I found it to be a lot of work. Talking with some people in the local film scene I got a lot of laughs when...

    New Canon EOS-1D X

Hold one in each hand and your carrying a small car. I'll preface this with I'm not a Canon man myself (Nikon, Panasonic, hopefully soon RED). But given those spec's the pricing even for a photographic camera seems high. I just suspect you could get better value buying an older Photo Camera...

Getting the talent to go to 'that place.'

I think it really depends on the actor and the director's style. On film I had a model who was one of the leads, within the first hour of getting on set and us getting ready to shoot he came over and ask "So, my character is basically this big headed jerk" and I was "yes, the more the better"...

editing How Can I Fix The Gun?

I've used that gun (and other Nerf Guns) in movies before. Best trick is never get too close or its obviously a Nerf and not an Sci-fi space cannon. :)

A good festivale for a Romantic Farce about Dating

A good festival for a Romantic Farce about Dating We have just completed our second short film for the summer and we are now hoping to send it around to a festival or two. A completely different twist from our last film (as phycological thriller) I'm a bit lost on which festivals are the most...

    good 3d modeling?

Wouldn't it be easier to find someone local who is interested in making 3D objects/art and seeing if they would be willing to work with you (for free)? If you just need a static (not animated) object if you can get your hands on one (paid or free) Aftereffects should be able to import it and...

    Scripts for Reference

Currently (today and tomorrow) I am writing a script for our third film. I'm going to do the movie similar to the style of Snatch, Deadfish, and Lucky Number Sleven. I was wondering if anyone knows were I can get a copy of the script so I can review how some of the scenes were written so I write...

    Nikon D90 ... Thoughts?

Used the D90, good photo Camer but video is okay if it's on a tripod and static shot. Once you start moving it tanks quick.
