    Mask or Makeup?

Well it's difficult to give very detailed advice without more information on the character. Do you have any concept images? If you buy a mask thats someone else's design and not unique and as you said won't look real. You should look up tips on prosthic make up. Normally it invloves layering...

    cinematography HOW to do THIS?

http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/earth_zoom/ This tutorial for after effects shows how to make a zooming in satelite image. I'm sure you could do the same for a map. It involves stiching together several seperate images I think.

    archived-videos Trailer vs. Teasers

As I understand it with a teaser there's more artistic licence. You are trying to get people's attention. Often doesn't include any content from the film it's advertising. I had to make one and it was only allowed to be 10-20 seconds long. A trailer is normally a lot longer and contains cut...

archived-videos Batman inspired 5 minute short film, Wayne (2009)

I'm inclined to agree you should have kept the fight out. It definately had a different atmosphere. I think it wouldn't have seemed as proffessional with it included. While it's great to see the full batman costume, I think it needed the mystery that the final cut had where you didn't see it in...

    sound sound advice

You can get programs that do it for you. I used to have a program called magix music maker. It had a load of premade effects that you could apply to for any situation. There are other programs that do similar things though.

The benefits of a script reader

I guess the benefit is that the guy knows what he's looking for in a script. What'll work, what won't work, what studios like. I'm no expert but I imagine that $300 isn't as much as some people would charge. Unless you know somebody with knowledge to review your script for free, then it may be...

    Good title text.

Whatch the shining. Stanley Kubrick used nothing but plain simple text and it work perfectly. You can go to the trouble of finding fancy fonts, but quite often in design the simplest thing works the best. Limit yourself to no more than to two fonts or colours.

    A question on cameras

When searching for a good entry level video camera I came across this site: http://www.proav.co.uk/ It seems to have most pieces of equipment that you could want for film production. However being inexperienced, I'm not sure if the prices are good. Does this site seem like a good place to get...

archived-videos CEASE TO BEAT --takes home five awards in the 48hr Film Comp.

How come it didn't win best silent film? It's easily better than the winner of that award.

How much of modern feature films are real?

lol you're not going to get many friends here if you say you like Michael Bay. It's all done in programs such as 3Ds Max, Maya, Zbrush among others. If you want to work in this area I suggest that you take a course on it. You can do short courses lasting only a few weeks to get a basic...

Getting my screen play off the ground

Judging by your location you're in the best place to do it. If you're an actor you must have some contacts. It probably depends on the type of script you have how easy it will be.

character Advice on psychopathic character story (in development)

Comedy is a good device for making a psychopath likeable. If they're witty and have a sense of humour, the audience might be so amused that their actions seem less extreme. Of course you have to ballance it right or they might become sadistic. The Joker in the Dark Knight was good, but he was...

    Background Voices in a scene

I don't quite get what you mean when you say 'you need written permission to use VOICEOVERS in films... '. If it's something you've recorded yourself then you don't need permission from anyone. Are you talking about taking voice overs from other films? I can't imagine why you want to in any...

archived-videos Sympathy For Mr. Vampire - Experimental Dark Comedy. My 2nd film.

I know thats the card he was playing. I made the comment because he appologised for it being so weird and said the next film will be 'normal'. I was merely citing that being 'normal' is boring.

archived-videos Short Martial Arts Film "Bad Signal"

The quality of the footage is good. It was very clear, good resolution. The story was slightly random. Impressive fighting, but not much to explain it. The whole concept of two guys fighting in suits has become a bit of a cliche. I was amused to see that the suits sustained no damage or got...
