Movie posters: Graphic images vs. Still images

The purpose of the poster is to communicate wath the movie is about and to gain attention. The purpose of every frame in a movie is to move the story forward. It is very very rare that these 2 purposes come together in 1 movie frame. Plus the difference in composition: portrait vs landschap...

critique My horror movie idea (Yah! I know I have to write but I need critique first.)

Future: you say you want us to critique your idea. But is basically just a outline of an idea, more like a setup. There is not much or even nothing to critique yet. So, you either hope we will tell you what should happen by filling it in: that is not critiquing, but writing. Or you are just so...

critique My horror movie idea (Yah! I know I have to write but I need critique first.)

Unable to escape being captured, a princess drops a message in a bottle to ask a wizard to help her dad. A farm boy finds the message and goes to the wizard. Together with a smuggler they travel to deliver the message to the princess's father, only to find his castle destroyed and surrounded by...

Camera shots in a film script

'We see' is pretty obvious, since it is a movie script. It can be condensed to: A group of 7 people sits in a lounge, fully drowned on the screens of their phones. Some punch text messages and others engage on their social media profiles. Their hands move fast over the touch screens to write...

    How does Hollywood work?

Don't become an accountant please. :P When you invest 10 dollars on a movie and it 'makes' 5. The Return on Investment is negative: it is a loss of 5 dollar. So failing is not making money. Just the amount of lost money can differ. It is impossible to survive by making more money losing...
